2012 Photos?

What is happening with the lack of Photos from 2012? Is no one sending them in or do we have technical problems?

The last pics posted were in May and I don't ever remember the photo albums filling up this slowly.

There are no technical issues. We do have several hundred photos this year, but not as many as we've typically seen in recent years.

This year it's also much easier to request removal of photos, and the number of removed photos is much higher than in previous years.

I do know that there were a few people with cameras who were taking quite a few shots who have not sent anything in yet. About all we can do is to encourage people like that to please send them in.

Hi.
Maybe the system as it stands for 2012 makes it way too easy to delete a photo that is not exactly perfect. I think we should consider making it a little less simple to delete a photo just because at first glance we don't feel that we look at our best.
I know that when I was new to DLV which coincidentally was when I was totally new to being a girl and extremely apprehensive about public exposure that I vetoed a pic or two which I didn't like and thought later after the fact that they hadn't looked all that bad and was sorry that I have vetoed them. As I remember we had to give a valid reason for deletion back then.
I have not used the veto system since then, consequently I don't really know just how easy it is to delete one in 2012 but I think we should rethink the new system in the interests of a fuller and more inviting photo album for 2013 and forward.

When people have asked me about D L V, I directed them to our site on the web and recommended that they look through the photos to decide if it is what they would like to do for a T Vacation. Most who wrote back said it look like great fun! Now if there were only a handful of photos stored there then I don't think that our web pages would look as inviting as they have in past years.

What do you think girls?

I was reflecting my own personal feelings on how I felt when I was very new
and scared about public exposure in the form of the DLV albums. I don't for
one minute think that everyone who posts a pic to our albums is a confident T
girl/ lady so their thoughts may be in the same zone as mine were when I was
new. I just thought I might ask to see if anyone else who has gone through
this recently might agree with me. Maybe not but and it's no big deal just an
idea and maybe if we get less and less photos posted we might want to
revisit it some time down the road.

I seriously doubt if those who do not wish to appear in the photos would agree with this!

Hi Katie

What idea were you thinking of / about pics selection with consideration
to those that don't want photos or certain photos?

I'd like to hear your idea or ideas if it would be a positive
improvement to the DLV experience better than what is already in place.

I don't have any ideas to present but by discussion you or others can
present a new way or possibly bring up a better way that wasn't
considered. I'm open to hear what you had in mind. Its no guarantee
of change but at least the idea can be brought out to everyone.

Let's put it on the discussion table to see it and let it stand on its
own merit If it's a good thing or not.

Hi Kumi.
When I did my first D L V in 2002 I was not into posting photos in any way but have become less apprehensive about it since then as time progressed along with my own development and confidence level too.
The system we had back then as I remember it stated that we could veto a pic but not necessarily one with a bunch of others in it who might want to see it stay up in the albums. Maybe this is not correct but I think it is close to it.

I hadn't thought much about a way to improve the 2012 and forward system but just off the top of my head I would say a good starter would be that **When a person puts in a veto of a pic that they had posted then later they became a bit apprehensive about**, or a pic they are in which others may have posted we should leave it up there for 1 month before it is permanently deleted with consideration to those who may also be in the photo and would like to write in and state their wishes to see it stay. We could then write a short polite note to the Vetoing girl and ask if she was dead sure that she wanted it to be deleted and to please consider those who were also in the photo before making a final decision.
As I attended more and more DLV's I just left all of the photos I had posted up and even though on second glance I looked quite abysmal in them it didn't seem to matter as much as when I was new to it all. New girls think totally differently from the experienced ones and the fear of exposure is quite traumatic to them, I can still remember it quite well myself because it wasn't all that long ago.

I am sure if we all give this some thought that we can come up with a revised version of this with some modifications to prevent hurt feelings etc and yet still keep a good supply of great memorable photos in the DLV archives. We are obviously a bit short in attendance this year and consequently in the piccy department too as opposed to other years and it would be a shame to be on the downslope and not act on it.
I hope this helps and prevents some from vetoing a possibly really nice D L V memory for them when they look at back editions of DLV later in life.! I can look back at mine now and smile when I see the friends I made along the way especially those which show the girls who have not attended since those pics were taken.
I think that the system the way it is right now makes it a bit too easy to delete a nice pic which would enhance our Albums in a good way and slowing that process down a little might be a good fix.

I always thought that a color coded name badge indicating they wanted to be
warned before photos were take would limit the veto by girls in the closet.
