Hi Katherine!
I will look out for that Cocktail Sauce. I also love shrimp cocktail -
and it all depends on the sauce. We don't have any of those stores but
I will look locally in the refrigerated section. I remember seeing
some, but never looking closely at it.
I still like the shrimp cocktail at Golden Gate in downtown LV, but its
gone up to $3 p4 $4 a sundae sized cup. They make it when one orders
it, so its always fresh and not sitting in the cup in some refrigerator.
I think its still worth it, and its bay shrimp. The other is the jumbo
shrimp at the Bellagio buffet....but I go to the Bellagio buffet not for
the shrimp but for other items in the buffet - ie King Crab, Sea Bass,
Rack of Lamb...
There isn't a Joe's Crab Shack here. I was curious about that drink,
and they had on a few You-Tube videos of the drink at a Crab Shack, the
blue drink looks very similar to a variation of the Blue Lagoon Drink
using blue curacao.
There are two types of blue lagoon drinks that I know of.... and it may
NOT be the same thing at all....
1. lemon flavored rum, vodka, blue curacao, and sweet and sour mix.
2. spiced rum and light rum, sweet and sour mix (some use lemonade),
blue curacao.
The lemon cannot be too yellow, or it changes the blue to a greenish
blue color. One other variant used pineapple juice and that one turned
really green - as in more of a green lagoon drink. Both of the above
variants are mixed in a shaker, or poured over ice. By the content,
both will have similar taste because of the rum, sour mix, and blue
curacao.
The blood in that shark handled glass tube is supposed to be red
grenadine... either added at the end or by the person drinking the
drink.
If the blue lagoon is put into a slush making machine and the grenadine
added at the end - that really sounds good and a good twist on the
drink.
It would be like the daiquiris or margaritas - made at the La Bayou on
the FSE or at La Salsa.
I had a chocolate daquiri from the La Bayou downtown LV - its like
having a chocolate freeze drink with a alcohol kick, and was pretty
good.
One favorite for me is a good original NY style cheesecake (dessert and
not a guy). Its totally bad for me as in health. Yeah, they have a
frozen version at Costco, and there is the Cheesecake Factory, but if
its well made, or with any kind of topping, that is one bad weakness I
have ... California Pizza Kitchen has a excellent pumpkin cheesecake
starting around early Oct and it usually never makes it till
Thanksgiving. Main Street Station's buffet also had different
cheesecakes but I haven't been there in several years.
