Limo Tour

This was my first limo tour and it lived up to all expectations. I feel
a part of DLV history having my picture taken on the tow truck! LOL! I
know logistics are tough going up and down the strip but just watching
the reactions of the tourists as we all drive up in formation is
priceless.

I think the drivers handled it all very well. I can't comment on the
Four Queens stop as we never made it, but hitting the luxury hotels was
great fun and I want to do it again. It was like a peaceful Normandy
with white landing craft and a tranny army! And, oh what fun with all
the flashes going off!

Hugs,

Sharon Anne

I agree about the past comments about wanting limos instead of a bus,
the stretched limousine is a much more stylish mode of conveyance than a
bus...

I liked the part where we took pictures of 4 of us at a time under the
sign that said 4 queens, and I also like the attention we were getting,
people saw us and "read" us and whatever but the attention was all
positive and it felt really great... my one complaint was that the
cooler with the champagne and the wines that they put in the car for us
to drink was on the floor in the middle of the limo where we were
supposed to have our feet and some people in the car(me included) had to
sit with their feet scrunched up for most of the ride

The five(5) person limo might be the best alternative to 4 or 6 persons
limo and fit within a good 'price point' as those marketing geeks would
say!!!

Hmmmm, maybe you should have put the wine, ice, and champagne in the
limos cooler in the door. Just a suggestion. Where else would you have
put the drinks? No wrong answer here. Most limos set the cooler on its
side with there legs stretched out over it. I think the limos should be
held to 5 passangers each. More room that way.

Thanks, LeeAnna

I had the time of my life on the Limo Tour. But then I say that every
year. Even being broken down was a lot of fun. I would agree that we
probably need to keep the tour away from Fremont St and our time would
be better spent hitting locations on the strip.

A special thanks to Leanna, cindy, sharon, and marilyn for making this
year one a wonderfly fun year. Some day I hope to make it up to you.

One of the attractions of the limo ride, for me at least, is the chance
to "greet the civilians" who are in our path at the various stops. Some
of the best conversations I've ever had concerning this wonderful
transgender world we inhabit, have been at those stops. Also some of
the greatest confused looks on peoples faces have been there as well. I
remember a stop at the 4 Queens for our photo op. Almost everyone is
looking at the DLV girls lineing up under the 4 Queens sign when this
old couple wander out of the casino and stop to watch the festivities.
After a couple of minutes she tells him that not all the girls he's
looking at are what he thought they were. The look on his face was
priceless.

I'm co-hostess with JoAnn of the Art Tour and this is done in two parts
before and after lunch. There really isn't a chance or a need to get a
drink on this trip. We usually go to a couple of museums, one on the
Strip and the Las Vegas Art Museum, well off the strip, to see the
exhibits. Last year we had a great opportunity to see some of Ansel
Adams greatest photographs at one stop. At the other we encountered
some very strange wood, canvas, bondo and paint recreations of common
items, like microwaves, dishwashers and Toyota pickup truck tailgates.
That was stranger than anyone at that exhibit. The lady that runs the
gift shop says she looks forward to our annual visit. She even gave me
access to a restricted part of the exhibit where no one else was being
allowed.

There have also been various shopping trips and shows that have involved
little or no alcohol. However, there are more than one or two chances
to let your hair down and it seems that the Limo trip can provide that
opportunity. I think I remember drinking a little more than I should
have once or twice on that trip, but without witnesses I'm clean.

I am really excited about the limo tour, but will not be arriving in
Vegas till earlier on Wednesday :(

Is it acceptable to pay for the limo tour prior to the start of DLV? For
example, could cash or money order be sent as is being done for the
Friday Murder Interactive?

Ok, here's the story, there are two considerations, and I'm
sorry if this is not what you want to hear.

We're not going to be offering mail-in payment for the Limo Tour.

Why? Historically, this type of payment is a very high-maintenance
function with a very poor follow-through rate and a significant
amount of "yes I sent it!" "no, I haven't received it!" back and
forth. We (the Limo volunteers) have a lot of fish to fry and
unfortunately we are going to have to set some limits.

Another consideration. It appears that the Limo Tour will be
absolutely full with a significant waiting list. As of now, we
have enough for 8 full limos (the ABSOLUTE most we can handle)
and a growing waiting list. If you're not signed up for it yet,
there's a chance you may not get to go even if you sent in the
payment and it was received in time.

Now, the good news! You're not dead in the water. There are a
few options for you.

First of all, if you have not signed up for the Limo Tour, do
so ASAP and get on that waiting list!

If you find somebody who is willing to make payment for you in
person on time, you're in, assuming you either have a confirmed
spot or have moved up on the waiting list. If you absolutely
don't know anyone who will be there on time, you can make an
appeal here on the forum for a kind soul to be a go-between
and make payment for you.

One last option. If you're not paid and the Limo Tour is totally
full, be at the Limo Tour departure point ready to board. If
there's a last-minute no-show for any reason with no means of
contact, it's FCFS for that open seat. Yes, this has happened a
number of times in the past.

Please understand that we've had significant difficulty
collecting for the Limo Tour in the past. This year we are
going to have to be very assertive in collecting, and we
have agreed that we need to have the cash in hand, in person,
no exceptions, in order to make the Limo Tour work.

This makes sense, you gals are already putting in an amazing
amount of effort.

I was lucky enough to get in before it filled up.

Unfortunately, this is also my first DLV so I don't know anyone else
there. I am left with making an appeal to a good samaritan. In any case,
I am looking forward to meeting everyone.

The limo ride/tour is one of the best ways to meet
and get to know 5 or 7 other attendees, and have
fun at the same time. Its a good activity to begin
new friendships.
