Did most coasters in LV in femme mode.
NYNY coaster -- if they haven't re-furbished it, the ride is quite
violent as in shaking and pushing the head all over, banging it on the
padded side rails on each side of the head.Circus Circus - smooth ride
-- I think more safer as for kids that ride it.Primm - outside, and
tends to be fast, a good amount of G force and wind against the face.
Recommendation:
Ride without any glasses on head. Even with elastic straps, the coaster
can shake it loose (moreso if going inverted upside down), or the 'G'
force can easily knock it off. If you cant see without it, maybe its
better that way. Anything is better than loosing prescription glasses or
a expensive sun glasses.
Wearing a wig is a issue. One can succeed if the original hair can hold
the wig on the head with a ton of hair pins BUT that may not be enough.
I wouldn't just depend on just hair pins in high wind and G forces.
One solution I have used is a hoodie sweat top with a draw string that
can tighten the hood around the face but smaller that your circumference
of your head to keep the hood on the head and covering the wig securely
during the ride. The opening allows you to see, but too small to open up
and come off your head, and bow tied so it doesn't come loose during the
quick ride. Quickly secure on the hood as the coaster goes up the
initial ramp before the initial release down the first drop. Warning -
if the hood opens during the ride, the wind will cause the wig to fly
off. Do this in practice before the ride so that the movements are quick
and set quickly before the drop. Once the ride ends, release the bow tie
and take the hood off.
At the end of the ride, if the wig has come loose, don't remove the
hoodie, and go to the ladies room to a stall to reset the wig on your
head.
The hoodie has worked for me at all the LV coasters, and also in LA at
Magic Mountain (esp X2), Disneyland, and Knotts Berry Farm. Even on
Tatsu at Magic Mountain, I ended up face down, but wig was still on head
and hair was messy but like real hair does, and the wig cap securely on
my head.
The hoodie also protects you somewhat if someone gets sick and throws-up
on the ride, or decides to pee in fear --- a long sleeve hoodie will
keep your top of the body clean, except for the face.
Wear a butt pack instead of a handbag if planning to go on a coaster, so
that one doesn't need a locker to store stuff during the ride. A pack to
hold essentials, and not the kitchen sink. Butt packs worn under the
hoodie is generally small enough to be hidden under the hoodie jacket.
Make sure the butt pack is zippered for its contents will fall out if
open.
I had thought of creating a pin and a group to ride coasters at DLV -
and called Order of the Flying Wigs - for us femme girls in wigs going
on wild coaster rides and either haven't loss the wig or has loss a
wig.... but not much interest at that time.
