Smile! Let’s get some exercise and take some pictures!
On Thursday morning of DLV2014 week we will have the opportunity to get an early start on the day with a hike through one of the beautiful parks surrounding Las Vegas. I will lead an exploration of one of the trails at Red Rock Canyon. This scenic excursion will allow many opportunities for taking photos of the majestic views as well as of each other.
The hike will be approximately 2.5 miles lasting around 2 hours and will cover easy to moderate hiking terrain. You will need to wear appropriate clothing for outdoor hiking including layers that can be added or taken off depending on weather conditions and temperature changes and comfortable supportive shoes for walking over uneven ground (no pumps or open-toe sandals please). A water container is also a good idea since we are in the desert.
We want to begin the hike at 9:00 so will need to depart the strip area no later than 8:20 to allow for the drive. We can meet at Betty’s by 8:00 (earlier if you need a morning eye opener) to get a head count and figure out carpooling . Hopefully there will be hikers going who will have a vehicle and can give people a lift. You may also meet us at the Red Rock Canyon Visitor’s Center if you have other transportation.
We should finish up before noon and be able to join up with Ginger’s* lunch group or dine on our own on the way back. *Maybe we can talk Ginger into picking a lunch venue west of the strip that day.
A reminder that this will be at a public venue, as will the lunch following, so please dress appropriately.
