Hair removal (was: My LV trip blog in June 2013)

I have a question to ask the disc group - I'm looking into the current
modern hair removal systems if there is any.

I still use the old fashion way of a electric shaver that works
perfectly well everytime I use it. I found a electric razor much
faster than using a straight blade razor, and less skin and bleeding
cuts and razor burns. The issue is the battery dies and takes a few
sessions to complete the body shaving. But it does eliminate any
accidental razor cuts done by a straight razor.

Also, not dealing with the issue of stubble after a few days, and the
in-grown hairs, rash, and ichyness of after shaving, that can be
relieved by using a exfoliant type wash brush to keep the follicles
open, and using skin lotion combination so that the skin doesn't get red
or raw.


So for me - right now - I'm staying with the shaver unless something is
found to be better - so claims the advertisers of these products.

Yes, there are professional treatments too. There are also home
waxing systems too but not looking at that area at this time. Waxing
will eventually kill most if not all hair follicles where re-growth gets
less and less. Also not dealing with chemical removers like Nair that
will also burn the skin if used too often or frequent, leaving or
creating burns and itchy areas that results in raw skin and bleeding,
and it does leave a strong chemical smell in the bathroom when used.
=A0The hair again grows back within days.

If you've used the following, I would like to know the honest results if
you have tried them, as in how well it has worked. This is our group
only, 1st hand reviews if you have used them.

I've read testimonies which postive ones are accused as hidden seller's
claims and totally opposite of customer complaints.

There are three hair removal systems that I did some research on:

1. No No
2. Tria Beauty for twice the price of No No.
3. Remington IPL6000USA I-Light Pro, that costs as much as a NoNo

1. NoNo

It is TV advertising and doesn't work for many. This uses electricity
and burns the hair and follicle. Selling web pages and infomercials on
TV rave how good it is. However reading the comments, it shows a very
different opinion, and it also reports very bad customer service to
return the item, getting replacement parts, and hassles to get ones
money back. The actual electrical wire can leave noticable fine
scratches and bleeding. The rollers wear out or the rubber band
associated with this wears out, and the spark actually burns the skin if
not used properly. The hair itself isn't crystalized and doesn't fall
off, or it only does some hairs leaving others intact. One has to deal
with the place smelling of burnt hair too. Some found it doesn't
eventually permanently remove the hair as claimed over time, and the
hair grew back, some less, but others say more thicker than before using
NoNo.

2. Tria

Its a actual lazer treatment, but a very small window, and will take
several re-charges to do the body. Some have found it painful but less
painful than having it professionally removed as in waxing. It did
reduce the hair re-growth but the issue is more on the small window and
missing areas, and the large surface area of the human body taking too
long of time since a full charge that can take hours, will last only 20
to 30 minutes of usage. Some units have actually burned out after a
short period of time. Some claim it doesn't work where hair and skin
pigment could be a issue.

3. Remington.

Its only drawback is the light pulse cartridge that only fires 1500
times and then has to be replaced. Some say again it doesn't work and
the hair doesn't fall out. Others say it has worked - but takes many
months of constant use as regulated by the instructions.

In my opinion and my wife's, and we have used the No No and Tria, the Tria is a better home removal tool. Granted it does have a small window but for the face yes I said for the face it works fine. I have no visible black whiskers and the ones I do have must be seen with a 10 X mirror to zap them, that's how fine they are. I also have been using Jamie for Electrolysis treatments on the blonde (gray) ones, he is in Las Vegas 702-338-1422.
He is very sensitive are community so try him out. Just order them and if they do not work just simply return them, its that easy.

I can't speak for all the products, but "NO NO" did work, however the
side affects were not appreciated. Brusing mall cuts and after 45 days
the hair continued to come back faster than before, Unlike the
commercial.

The Epilady - (models: legend 4, waterproof, sharper image) - for those
that don't know - its a hair pulling process without the wax. It uses a
spinning roller or a coil.

Its a device that acts as tweezers to grab the hair and pull it out.
Past versions and for some the current versions claim from no pain, to
less pain, to no pain, but pain is something that is to be expected,
since the hair is being grabbed and pulled out. Some claim if the hair
roots are strong, the unit is strong enough to pull the hair and still
take a chuck of skin with it - though its adverties as 'gently' removes
the hair. Thick or hair that has strong roots - like pubic hair can be
painful when pulled. Side effects are skin redness where the hair was
pulled out for a few days. After the redness, the results appear to be
good, and there is claim that constant pulling will eventally cause the
hair to come back finer, till the pulling damages the skin so it no
longer produces any hair. Some claim if the hair is too strong at its
roots, or the hair is too short, it won't be able to grab the hair.
Some has experienced skin pinching, caused by pressing the units into
the skin to try and get the stubborn thick or short hairs. Another is
intial hair re-growth is thicker, but after constant use, it finally
does get thinner, similar to waxing.

Other brands are Braun and Remington that sell epilators of similar
design.

I had placed this device within the 'waxing' group since it involved
pulling the hair out. The other groups I left out was razors or
electric razors or chemical types like Nair that cut the skin off at
the skin level. All of these I left out, and was looking more at the
newer things becoming available to do at home like laser treatements and
its promise of longer periods of being hair-less, and less returning
hair. For me I don't care for the pain with pulling hair out by its
roots. I also can live with but don't care for the smell of burning
hair protein either - its like burnt microwaved popcorn, the smell just
lingers.

I use the lady remington rechargable waterproof shaver, so I can do this
in the shower while the steam and follow up with a exfoliant wash and
after the wash treatments of skin moisturizers, to minimize the dry skin
itch and rash and the same rash and itch that happens as the hair grows
back as the stubble appears to irritate the skin when brushed against
any material like jeans or nylons. I'm looking for something easier... I
guess the new stuff isn't too good to replace older technology.
