So? Where did you find the best drink prices?

Hi Willa,

I like your suggestions for Tuscany and Circus Circus. Katie and some
others have been suggesting Tuscany for a couple of years now and it is
high time we should check it out. I'll look in on it first chance I
get, and Cami and Marisa should also if they are searching for a new
Opening venue. Circus Circus might be a good bet too. I've always
ruled CC out as being too old and dumpy, but what the heck, there may be
some life left in the old girl yet. I'll make an effort to get in
contact with the banquet manager over there and find out what he knows;
he sounds like someone we may want to make friends with. I like the
The Center too but I don't think I could personally handle the financial
arrangements. Thanks for these very promising suggestions. Good work !
this is the type of input we need to move us up to better times.
cordially,
Cynthia

It would also be nice if we had a designated hotel where most everyone
would stay. Get a good deal on room rates??

Hi Gang.

I see we are already in full swing to make 1014 a success! ***

Yes

I Do,like the Tuscany,I think it has a nice quiet charm to it. The Hotel
would be a nice choice for a place to stay during DLV for both new and
old DLVers too! .All the rooms are suites Hence the title **Tuscany
Suites** and the parking is extensive and spacious. The casino is modern
and not as small as I expected it to be, I found the staff there to be
very polite and accommodating. I didn't know they had a buffet but their
restaurant is nice and the little gift store has some decent jewelry on
display. (No I don't work for the Tusc') *lol* I just happen to like
the place. Please keep us posted on the developments Cynthia.

Huggers. Katie.

If you (or anyone) would like to take this on as a project, be my guest, or in this case if you're successful, I'll be your guest! :)

Please feel free to contact hotel managers and sales staff in the name of DLV. You don't need anyone's permission to do so. Just don't commit to anything without the "ok" of the ORG group.

We'll never get everyone in the same hotel. 20% of our attendee base is local, and don't need a hotel room. Many of our other attendees have their own favorite places to stay, and many of those get reduced or "comp" rates at places where they have a gaming history. Some others actually choose to stay away from where large groups of DLVers are staying, to "fly under the radar" and such.

Some history here -- this has been tried many times throughout our now 17 year history. In all but two cases those "special group rates" offered to us were actually HIGHER than the cold-call rates or web rates for the same property!

Nora did have success at the old St. Tropez and got us some very attractive rates some years ago. Cynthia got us some good rates at the Artisan in 2011, but ran into a brick wall when trying to do the same in 2012.

Also please remember, that when the managers and salesdroids start talking about guarantees, minimums, deposits, etc., you're going to need to be a very skillful negotiator!

Are you up for the challenge? :)

I very much enjoy Paris, but only stay there every few years, as
depending on the week chosen for DLV, their rates, particularly the
weekend rates, can be quite high. Downtown hotels, such as The D, might
also work out, however I don't know that there would be a significant
number of girls wishing to stay downtown, and many downtown hotels are
not as inexpensive as they once were.

If there is sufficient interest in downtown, I'm willing to contact a
few hotels, although I doubt the rates will beat regular internet
trolling for the "deal of the day" on the strip. One strip location I
plan on checking if it is open next year is the remodeled Bill's
Gambling Hall, perhaps there will be some reopening deals there,
although it is opening as a boutique hotel, which can get pricey.
Perhaps they would be motivated to book a group.

I think what complicates the issue for small conventions like DLV is
that for a strip hotel, 50 rooms or so is not all that large a group.
The suggestions for places like the Palms, Tuscany, or perhaps Rio
(another one of my favorites) might be make for a more successful
negotiation.

Word on the street is that they will be re-theming this as the Gansevoort, Las Vegas branch of the two uber-trendy hotels in Manhattan, and targeting a market of that oh-so-hip El-Lay twentybopper party crowd.

Don't hold your breath expecting any deals there. :)

For the mid-size LV conventions I've attended, the "Special Group Rates" are targeted to those on an expense account. They tend to be higher than cold call rates.

For the largest conventions, room rates will spike all over the city.

We don't have one designated hotel but we offer the gals a choice of
several suggested hotels each year. It is up to them to talk amongst
each other, which is encouraged and highly suggested to keep as many
together as possible.

Hi Delaney,

We stayed downtown at the Nugget and loved it good rates and food and beverages tend to be cheaper they also have a nightclub there. Did the D used to be Fitzgeralds? My partner and I would definitely be interested in hotels downtown.

We have stayed at The Nugget several times and love it there too. They
have some really nice restaurants in the property and since renovation
the casino is a decent size now and quite varied. I love the location
and the parking is excellent. It is of course a long way from the Strip
but cars, cabs and busses can get you there

If you want a nice early morning stroll in girl mode downtown Vegas on
Freemont Street has a nice easy peace to it and it is quite refreshing
in Vegas where it is so hectic most of the time. I found it a great spot
to start my DLV activities from.

Yes the "D" used to be Fitz and obviously before that Fitzgeralds which
I have also stayed at and enjoyed too. Katie
