How to find Harras and the Quad parking.

Postby Katie Wilson » Sun Mar 24, 2013 7:53 am

Hi Gang.
I thought I would post this in here for those not too familiar with Vegas or who have not been there in a while and might be a bit concerned about the construction zones at The Quad. I go quite often and was there recently in September and I suspect it hasn't changed much since then.
Some may have already seen this in the DLV mailing but for those who skipped by it then Here it is!

Casinos Always make sure you can get in! Maybe they are not so attentive when it comes to guiding you out again but they always pay strict attention to details when bright eyed and bushy tailed Paying $$$ Customers are in sight so here is how you find your way in and out if you have a car/mini van etc'
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
******
There will be access from *Koval Lane* (Which runs North> South and is Parallel to the Strip) and runs behind The Quad, The Flamingo and Harrahs! ..This is the Taxi, Shuttle Bus, Limo and Tour Bus entrance / exit route.

1). From the Airport Via Paradise rd. ..
Take a Left on Flamingo then a Right on Koval Lane then Left on Ida Ave. Ida curves around behind Harras and the Quad, This will take you directly to the parking at Harrahs and The Quad.parking also.
***If The Quad parking is closed off*** ( Which I doubt ) as they like to heard paying customers in to the Casino and parking is a big part of that ! Then just park at Harrahs. It is only a short walk via the Mono rail ramp to the Quad so Take the elevator in the parking garage to [Level > 2.= Casino access ramp] Then take a left through the mono rail double doors and walk past the Monorail entrance and The Quad will be right there in front of you!

2). The alternate route if you are on Flamingo is to take Audrie st which is behind the Flamingo and also runs behind all these casinos but it is through the construction zone and maybe not the best choice.

3) You could always enter from the Strip too if you want to see all the glitz first but I suggest Route # 1 Above. It will be many less headaches for you.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
***The exit/entrance off Koval Lane via Ida Ave is always open as the shuttle busses, Taxi's, Limo's and inter hotel shuttles run from there .Their employee parking is separate but also in the same area so that will most definitely be open.

Thank you Katie! That is very useful information. This is my first
time staying on the strip and I am wondering how the check-in works
coming in from the back. Are you still able to unload at the back of
the building before parking like most hotels? I can't imagine hauling
bags from the parking garage, so I wanted to check as you never know=85

I don't know if it's still there and open, but there used to be a second "secret" check-in desk at the IP. It was up the escalator from the tour bus area and obvious, if you were looking for it, :) when entering the property from the Monorail and parking structure. If it was staffed and a tour bus was not currently checking in, it was usually much faster than the main check-in desk.

Check-in at the IP can be anywhere between very quick and incredibly slow. I've checked in at the IP between 10:00 and 11:00am and just walked right up to the desk. Worst times will be mid-late afternoon and early evening and the IP check-in line at those times can be NASTY!

Here's what I usually did as a routine when checking in at the IP and driving a vehicle.

1. Park in the parking structure. Leave bags

2. Check in and get room key. Be sure room key works and room is OK.

3. Return to parking structure. It's not nearly the walk that it is at places like Bally's, Paris, Planet Ho, and Caesars.

4. Get bags and schlep them to room using the "secret" rear elevators. (Finding these from the main level will be an exercise for the student.) :) :)

5. Go downstairs, play a machine, and enjoy an adult beverage. :)

Is there a back place to check in for Harrah's? I thought I read you
couldn't check in before 4PM as there was a fee for early check in
before then?

Check-in for Harrah's is on the lower level toward the rear. Very convenient to the parking structure. That is the main check-in desk. The lines at Harrah's tend to move more quickly than those at the former IP did.

I've stayed at many CET properties over the years and never paid an early check-in fee. This includes Harrah's Las Vegas checking in about 10:30am. Worst that ever happened is that I was told that rooms of my type were not clean and to check back in a few hours. Several times I've been told that if I will take a room on a lower floor I can check in then, but for a higher floor I would have to check back. I've had the same results with both Players Club reservations and corporate reservations.

Be sure you flash your players club card when you check in. If you don't have one, go to Total Rewards before you check in.

I find this a little disturbing too, but actually a lot of people do just that. Every time I'm in a casino (4-5 times a week), I see people hauling their bags from the parking garage to the check-in counter or to their room or to wherever. I don't recall seeing this in the old days when luggage didn't have wheels, but casinos and their associated hotels were a lot smaller back then. The Mob was running things too, which probably made a difference.

In any case, I agree with Annie's suggestion which is exactly what I would do.

When the "Mob" was running things, I love that and agree whole heartily.
I wish the "Mob" would come back because it was running things so much
better for a lot less money. I remember eating Prime Beef for $2.95 and
breakfast for $1.00. That was the good old days when Vegas was really a
fun place to go. Now it's all about money and profit and bottom line.
Vegas today lays credence to the fact that there was never a cooperation
yet that knows how to run company.

I like Annie's plan too!
Once when I did DLV week with a heap of clothes I used the Annie plan with a variation as I had more than one suitcase if you know what I mean?

I parked and my wife and I took 2 small cases/bags with us to the check in as they were easier to negotiate the crowded casino. Then we checked in, took the smaller bags to the room and returned to the parking garage and retrieved the other suitcases and took them to the room also.
Lots'a fun eh? That is what DLV is all about. = taking way too many clothes and never getting to wear half of them. *lol*.
