DLV 2012 Non-Attendee Survey report, part 2 ...

Postby External Poster » Sun Jun 03, 2012 2:45 pm

This posting is from: Diva Las Vegas
----------

This is the fourth and last of four reports.

This report consists of the textual comments received on our recent
Non-Attendee survey. Very little editing except for formatting. One
frivolous response has been removed. :)

Further comments are welcome and encouraged.
. . . . . . . . . .

The two times I've attended have been wonderful times, well run, super
people.

I winter in Arizona, drive back to Calgary in March, and lately I've
just not had it in me to drive all the way back down to Diva (I bring
my wife so this works out best for cost and flexibility in travel
arrangements.)

Maybe next year!
. . . . .

The question WHIVH factors should be repeated to asked for all the
factors that prevented attendance, ie multi choice and then ask which
was the most significant. IMHO
. . . . .

It seems more geared towards trannys
. . . . .

Thanks for asking for my feedback. It seems like a fun and worthwhile
event. I hope I can afford the time to attend in the future. You have
GREAT communication about the event!
. . . . .

sent a note out early maybe next year will be better to attend ill give
it one more attempt
. . . . .

I am usually in Las Vegas but I had to be out of town this year.
. . . . .

I'm so sorry I missed at least one night with the girls, but a horrible
mistake by the new management co. of our apt complex, had me on the
verge of eviction. We spent almost every day this week with attorney and
management to get this straightened out, and just kinda fazed every
thing else out. Hope everyone had a good time.
. . . . .

Had trip all set up until Doctor informed me I was having eye surgury
same week as DIVA
. . . . .

I had a conflict between the scheduled dates and my work. I'll be
attending in the future.
. . . . .

Been wishing could attend again every year. I've been out of work for
quite a long time now. So economics is the only issue.
. . . . .

Sorry I missed this years event a combination of schedule and increased
air fare problems hope to attend next year
. . . . .

Last year, I went to only a couple of the events and spent more time out
with the local girls who knew how to party.
. . . . .

For my years of attending DLV I managed to attend be it several days to
an over night stay.

DLV 2012 was scheduled the same wee as a local event called "Laughlin
Run" Bike Week. Couldn't get time off not even one day.

I really missed you all. Hopefully, next year DLV will be either a week
or two earlier or later than the last week in April.
. . . . .

DLV really sounds fun. However, I don't know any of the girls and I have
never been out in the world transformed. Going would be taking a
huge-giant step for me. Perhaps there could be a beginners, baby step
program included in DLV? I have years of transforming under by belt and
can be close to passable. Especially if it's a darker lit environment.
My wife is supportive too.

Fantasy: To attend DLV for at least one event. Before the event, having
a professional makeover so that I look my absolute best.
. . . . .

I would probably be able to free up my schedule if this were a bit
earlier in the year. I know there are other considerations, etc, just
saying, mid feb or so. BUT, you are now quite successful, just bad
timing for this girl.
. . . . .

I am sorry to have missed the event again. One of the issues is that
time off is scarce and the one event I that drew me initially has been
moved from a convenient Friday to mid week. Golf.
. . . . .

It seems like there are some great people participating in the
discussion list. Maybe it would be fun to get to know them in person.

However, it seems like some other people might be uncomfortable with the
way I might dress. So, I don't think the DLV week is for me. I still
enjoy the list, especially any info regarding Vegas.
. . . . .

Maybe some people to help handicapped people get to some activities that
have trouble walking long distances.
. . . . .

I regret not being able to participate but next year i will be there
. . . . .

Tax Time makes it hard to go in April
. . . . .

Just could not attend because I was asked to teach a math class that had
a lot of teacher turn over and wanted to be fair to the students.
. . . . .

My problem is the date. The earlier the better for me. I would even
prefer March.
. . . . .

My DLV, I will go back and look at this! Havn't used yet.

I am still interested in attending sometime! So wiil keep up on future
events and love to see the photos and comments on this years events.
. . . . .

Earliest decision about dates for DLV2013 please, helps to get a better
deal with air fares.
. . . . .

DLV is simply the BEST!
. . . . .

Really would like to play golf at DLV and other social functions. Need
advice from experienced participants.
. . . . .

I've been wanting to attend for years, but I'm just a Big Chicken! LOL
. . . . .

I am concerned that the event is getting too large. I really enjoyr=ed
it when it was a smaller group.
. . . . .

I was signed up, could not find reasonable airfare from Ohio. Had to
cancel, which was a good thing as I was admitted to the hospital for a
medical emergency. Maybe next year
. . . . .

This was really my fault. I put off reserving my air ticket waiting for
the $285 price to go down. It went up to over $350 and almost $400 and
never went down. I just couldn't justify spending that much. So sorry.
. . . . .

I count the days until Diva each year! I hate to miss Diva. Between
house payment, car payment, daughter's graduation, and I had to pay tax
rather than get some back this year I just could not afford it this
year.
. . . . .

I have been providing nursing assistance to a recouperating family
member for over six months. Just could not leave.
. . . . .

The economy was most certainly the primary reason for not attending both
this year and for that matter last year as well. I see it as no fault to
the wonderful folks who put a lot of effort into this event. Some very
interesting activities were offered this year. To which I'm sad to have
missed. Looking forward to giving it a whirl yet again next year.

Thank you all so much.
. . . . .

I really want to go next year, I'm Dying to get out in Public and can't
think of a Cooler way.I am also going to look into some of the other
Events as well. Thank You,
. . . . .

DLV is a fine event for cross dressers that are generally heterosexual,
just as drag queens are generally gay. My concept is uniquely different
in that I do not believe in either homosexuality or heterosexual as both
tend to practice homophobic behaviors. Being outside the box one sees
the whole picture in reality. How ever, the consequence is not being
part of the group in acceptance.

I do not tend to go to DLV because of the three times my female spouse
and I attended we often were shunned by the so called experts. TG groups
tend to have group meetings as a hideout for folks that cannot get out
or pass in public. Therefore, the DLV suffers from the group concept
thing of social dominance of those seeking status or power within the
group.

This is not the fault of DLV, but the transgender communitys disharmony
in accepting the different variations. One such example is {name} and
{name} that are bullsh*ts of the group manipulation that often promotes
jealousy and shunning within the social group.

Secondly, our local Tri-Ess chapter requires membership based on sexual
orientation, which I find inappropriate. The reason, sexual orientation
does not define who a transgender is. These groups focus on enforcing
rules, dress codes, and behavior status. For example, every year there
is a DLV restroom issue that 90% of the time came down from the
crossdresser bringing it down on themselves. I am even applaud when they
stand up and pee then want group support for their rejection.
. . . . .

Several of the questions are more to be able to pin point who may be
answering this survey and has nothing to do with asking why one didn't
attend.

Questions like number of years of appearing in public, age, usage of
MyDLV, attending other events, how many times a person attended DLV.

You also leave out many other reasons for no longer attending:

1. DLV is ONLY for newbies to allow them to experience mainstream
venues. In this DLV excels in and is perfect for those attending for
the FIRST time.

2. The leadership are a bunch of hypocrites (explained below), saying
one thing and their actions showing something else.

3. It becomes very BORING doing almost the same repeat thing every year
for anyone who returns year after year.

Its mostly dining and drinking at the same places or other places. You
should call it Dining and Drinking Las Vegas, DDLV or 2Ds-LV. This DLV
also excels in doing. DLV does go to and spends much of the week at
many and different places to dine and drink.

Most are yearly repeats can be listed:

Limo Tour
Open and Closer and more dining and drinking
Erotic museum and more drinking
A show or two
Shooting firearms
Church service
High tea - more dining
Fine arts
Make overs

Anything else is what makes each year different and more desirable to
attend, which is getting less and less, and more predictable in doing
the same thing, different year.

This can explain why there were low or no shows between the opener and
closer. As quoted from the disc: "... did that already..."... and
probably many times over and over.

3. Decisions are made by secret or selected individuals in initial
UN-disclosed or kept in secret committees that are separate from the
org, separate from the elected officers, separate from the Project
Manager, separate from the disc. why sooooo many levels? That was once
why the org and disc were created and separate in the beginning.

There is no longer open discussion and more of a pre-decided control
issue. The masses are only told of the decisions. ie: the new
organizers guidelines.

4. All guidelines ie: BDR, that can everyone is supposed to follow can
easily be exempted to individuals at any time by the activity organizer
or by someone in the Org or leadership, that does spoil that evening for
some that attend.

Because of this, and spoiling one's evening, those that experience this
have stated they will no longer attend, so they don't come back.

The BDR is a joke in its current state.

This creates hypocrisy.

This information above isn't stated in the general BDR information!

This causes the same problem and comments each and every year over and
over and over....by those that don't know this.

5. Forced agreement to attend stating: NO liability to organizers. What
if a organizer caused that liability? Several I know did not attend
because of this.

This forced agreement also has hypocritical guidelines, for example: no
official transportation as in car-pooling and yet it happens for
official events like hiking.

6. Hypocrisy, politics as in favoritism and exemptions, personal bias,
and prejudice especially by the leadership, and by those in the Org, and
many seen as having power trips of control. This is seen by the
average attendee.

7. Attendees being called by the org and leadership, saying that
attendees are equal to a bunch of 'cats', to be herded around, and not
considered as people. ie "Herding Cats". This can be very insulting to
attendees.
