Ok, it was me. After the song that you sang at karaoke about how much you loved Galliano, how could I resist?

Don't forget the reason for the season

Dear Annie,

As a former Police Officer, and Breatylizer Operator, Plus a very big
experienced drinker in the past, I have some secrets to share.

1). If you switch drinks only do so after a meal, food stops the mixing
of the two different beverages that might not be compatible in your
body.

2a). For every alcoholic beverage you consume have at least the same
amount of water or more. Alcohol is water soluable (attracted to water)
and when it finds the most of it in your body, that is where it will
stay. Your brain cell have a larger concentration of water volume than
any other cells in your body, so as it rides in the water that is in
your blood, and gets to your brain, it jumps off there and says "this is
the place for me". So if you continually add water the traversing of the
alcohol through your body will be slowed down, ie. too many places to
choose from.

2b). Alcohol needs water in order to travel through and out of your
body, either thru urine or sweat. In doing so it takes the water with
it, your body becomes dehydrated, which is the causitive factor of a
hangover. Ever wonder why, after a night of drinking, the first thing
you want to do upon waking up is to drink water. Some people drink
juice, coffee, milk, etc... water is by far the best.

3). Coffee doesn't sober you up. Alcohol is a depressant, cafiene is a
stimulant, your still drunk, just one on legal speed.

4). If you have even the slightest inclination that you may have had too
much to drink, it means you have. "DO NOT DRIVE" take a cab. If you
don't want to leave your car then sit in your car, doors locked with the
windows slightly open. "DO NOT" put the keys in the ignition, put them
in your glove box. Per the Laws, of most if not all of the States, if
the keys are present, being in the ignition or in plain sight, the
opportunity to drive is present. Even if the car is not running, if you
are at or above the legal limit you can be arrested and charged with a
DUI. A lot of Cops, Judges, Firemen, Military Personnel and Lawyers are
the largest violators of drunk driving, but their profession gets them
special treatment. Which is normal to life, if a family member, a
friends family, or a friend owns a company, you are going to receive
special considerations, it's part of life.

Sorry, I didn't mean to go on this long but I hope everyone profits by
this info. I know there are people who will disagree to some of what I
wrote here, but this is per my knowledge and experiences, not yours.

Love to all,
Katherine

Katherine,

Very useful and thoughtful of you to share this information with us. I
have found that drinking at home is the best answer and if friends come
over I always suggest the guest bedroom or a cab or my neighbor will
drive you home for he never drinks.

Thank you again

SUSAN

I've found that I enjoy DLV (and Pinkfest) much better when I don't have a vehicle. I've found that the cost of a rental car easily covers a Monorail pass plus a few taxi rides per day.

Over the years in Las Vegas, I've been stopped twice at DUI checkpoints. They seem to occur inconsistently but regularly. Fortunately both times I was cold sober, but I don't want to risk a DUI summons or arrest. They say that under the best of circumstances, the real-world cost of a DUI incident will be $5000-$10000 or so.

One little "toy" I picked up a while back is a purse-size brethalyzer. It's made me very much aware of what I can and cannot drink and still be within the limit. I've found that three beers in a short time will indeed put me over the limit!
