Please be aware of the following documentary scheduled for broadcast
next Tuesday (11/4) on TLC. I was involved in the production, and it
has been very well done. Feel free to forward this note to others who
might be interested.

Sex Change Capital of the World

Broadcast Date: Tuesday November 4 @ 10pm Eastern Time
Wednesday November 5 @ 1am Eastern Time

Network: The Learning Channel (TLC)

Program Description:

In 1969, with one not-so-simple act, Trinidad, Colorado doctor Stanley
Biber changed the world. Using only sketches sent by a doctor in
Boston, he changed a man into a woman, and by doing so he planted the
seed of what would become one of the most interesting communities in the
world. From Seattle, we follow beautiful young OB/GYN and surgeon Dr.
Marci Bowers as she travels to Trinidad to learn Dr. Biber's skills.
Like Biber, she'll be a country doctor, delivering babies and removing
tonsils - and like Biber she hopes to be changing peoples sex. Through
Biber and Bowers, we'll learn about Gender Reassignment Surgery and
Facial Feminization Surgery first-hand as we follow patients undergoing
these incredible procedures. Along the way it becomes quite clear that
the history of gender fluidity is very long, and that current notions of
gender identity and "authenticity" are much more complex than you might
imagine.
