Suggested hotels for DLV 2012:
Our ORG group has just voted to accept the following hotels as
the suggested hotels for Diva Las Vegas 2012:
(in alphabetical order)
Artisan
Imperial Palace
Paris
One very significant (and frequently misunderstood) difference
between Diva Las Vegas and most of the other major TG events is
that DLV is not centered around a hotel. At DLV, Hotels are used
for attendee lodging. Only a small number of DLV activities will
happen in our suggested hotels.
As a Diva Las Vegas attendee, you are free to stay wherever
you wish.
We suggest hotels primarily for those who need some guidance
in choosing a place to stay. Although our organizers and
volunteers cannot be responsible for any issues, we know
that each of our suggested hotels has a history of serving
our attendees well.
A few notes on each hotel.
Artisan:
This is an off-strip non-gaming "boutique" hotel located at the
junction of I-15 and Sahara Avenue. It's elegant yet competitively
priced. The management and staff are known to be TG-friendly. The
Artisan will be the "safest" of our 2012 suggested hotels.
You can book on line at http://www.artisanhotel.com/ or phone
800-554-4092 for reservations.
. . . . .
Imperial Palace:
The Imperial Palace has housed DLVers each year from 1997 thru
2012. It's a large midscale casino-hotel right in the center of
the action on the mid-Strip. This will be the lowest-priced of
our suggested hotels. The complex includes several bars and
restaurants. The Las Vegas Monorail station is to the rear of
the property. The adjoining Carnaval Court offers entertainment,
food, drink, and amusements.
The Imperial Palace is often cited as "a fun place to stay" by
DLV attendees.
One note on the Imperial Palace for this coming year: The hotel's
desk staff assures us that there will be no significant changes
to the main part of the hotel and the casino between now and the
DLV dates. However, the Imperial Palace is destined to be part of
the Linq project, soon to be launched. The "Capri" buildings (the
two low-rise motel buildings adjoining the parking garage) will be
closed and demolished as part of the Linq project. There will be
construction in the vicinity of the current O'Shea's building, to
the south of the IP, during the DLV dates. There may be some
preliminary construction to the immediate north of the IP during
the DLV dates but Carnaval Court will remain open. The name
"Imperial Palace" is to be phased out during the next two years,
and they will not be seeking renewal of the trademark license.
You can book on line at http://www.caesars.com/ or phone
800-223-7277 for reservations.
. . . . .
Paris:
The Paris is a very large upscale casino-hotel located just
north of the "four corners" intersection on the center Strip.
The Paris will be the most upscale of our 2012 suggested
hotels. Several bars and restaurants, from plain to very fancy,
are on site. The Cabaret Lounge has been a popular after-hours
hangout for DLVers. The adjoining Bally's Monorail station is
semi-convenient to Paris.
The Paris is the only large Las Vegas casino-hotel which actively
invites GLBT business.
You can book on line at http://www.caesars.com/ or phone
800-223-7277 for reservations.

A few specific suggestions:
If you want the absolute cheapest room, period: Imperial Palace.
If you want to be near the largest group of other DLV attendees:
Imperial Palace.
If you want a room in a place where you won't have to transit a
crowded hotel lobby or casino: Artisan
If you want the nicest room: Paris.
If you want to be right in the center of the action: Imperial
Palace, or Paris.
If you want the hotel which is on record as actively inviting
GLBT folks: Paris.
If you want to stay away from the Strip: Artisan.
If you want the "safest" option: Artisan.
Further details on our suggested hotels appears here:

If none of the above hotels appeal to you, please use our Big
List as a secondary list of suggestions. It's on line here:
http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/vendors/
Several casino-hotels and non-gaming hotels are listed.
One special note: If you will be needing a ride to the DLV
activities, we very strongly suggest that you stay in one of
our suggested hotels. This will allow you to share rides (at
your own risk, of course) with others staying there.

Things to come:
In early January we'll be sending out our big "kick off" mailing
which will give a good overview of things leading up to the big
event in April. It will outline any significant changes to our
program or our procedures.
Around the first of the year, those who have previously attended
DLV (and whose e-mail addresses have not changed) can expect to
receive their re-registration e-mail. This will give a "close to
one click" re-registration for DLV 2012. We'll also be publishing
the regular re-registration link for those who don't get the
express re-registration mail, or for those who just want to do
things the hard way.
Newcomer registration, for members of this list (if you are
reading this in an e-mail addressed to you, this includes you
will open on or about February 1.
If you have any questions or concerns about anything that is to
happen, please let us know.
