Good news, Divas !! I have just had a chat with Artisan Guest Services
Manager, Rachael, and she assures me that there is an excellent chance
we can have a group rate at Artisan in April. What she need from us
now is a rough count of how many of us stayed at Artisan this year
and/or how many of us would like to stay there next year. If you
stayed at Artisan for a group rate last Diva, or even if you paid full
fare, please let me know asap. I will be talking with Rachael again
next Wednesday and will have some firm infomation for us by then. We
don't need names, just numbers, and Annie can crunch them up into a nice
fat estimate for us if she would like. Marisa was right, we're
dealing with a whole new managemant staff this year, so I'm having to
start from square one again; no one is there from last year. I was
right too, casino hotel management in LV turns over faster than flys
thru a window fan. Anyway its a bit of a challenge for me. I have not
mentioned the possibility of an Opening Event to them yet and will wait
until I get the green light from Org Staff to do so. I will no doubt
have to drop a hint on them though that we had a grand and successful
Opener last Diva and may look forward to the possibility of it again
next April. We seem to be well ahead of schedule this year for this
venue and I would like to keep it that way; if you're interested in a
stay at Artisan - look them up on the net - let me hear from you.

Cordially, Cynthia

I didn't make Diva last year - was still recovering from a hip
replacement. For planning purposes for 2012, though, please count me as
one.

Thanks

Cynthia, Did you look at the Artisan's sister property? Courtney(a waitress at Artisan) suggested that their Rumor Boutque Resort at 455 E. Harmon(across from the Hard Rock casino) might work better for our group. She also asked that we request for her to work if we are at either location next year.

Artisan Group Rates

May I make a suggestion while pursuing a group rate at the Artisan? See
if they will show you some of the rooms they will be offering our group.

I have a girlfriend who booked a room with them a few weekends ago and
she was extremely dissatisfied with the accommodations, so much so that
she left and checked into the IP. Her complaints were a lack of
adequate closet space for hanging items, the room was very dark and
dreary, and there was no place to do makeup. I know the rooms are
themed so perhaps she was assigned one from the dark ages :). How
flexible would they be in changing people's accommodations? I'm just
trying to avoid a situation where a Diva will have anything less than a
stellar experience.

As for the opening event, I think the facility is a quirky, unique, and
fun place to visit. Having said that, I would not attend another large
gathering there. Their dining area is too cramped for a group of our
size. Having to dine in shifts is a deterrent to the QST the event is
trying to foster. And the parking (or lack thereof), is more than an
annoyance. If the opening is held there again in 2012, I'll pass on it.

Just my $.02 ($12.77, adjusted for inflation).

I would like to add to comments of Holly's friend regarding the
"darkness issues" and share my experience at the Artisan.

The bathroom lighting was so dark I had trouble doing my eyebrows so I
went to CVS and purchased clear 40 watt light bulbs and installed them.
Finally I found my eyes looking back at me and proceeded to pencil in
eyebrows that matched in shape.

When I asked about brighter lighting at the desk they sent housekeeping
to the room but when I returned to the room it was still dim so that is
when I corrected the situation myself.

I really like the uniqueness of the place,, it seems to say "take me as
I am"...

Hi Divas,

Keep those votes coming in just a little longer so I can have the best
possible estimate to present to Rachael at Artisan. Of course there's
no commitment here, its just for obtaining a good group rate. If you
loved Artisan, or hated it, it don't matter, just let me know something.

I'll be talking with Rachael again next week to get a firm quote from
her. I'll also be dropping hints about our Opener to them as well. The
entire staff is new there so negotiations have to start from scratch
again. Artisan won't please everybody and about all we can really do is
go with a majority vote - admittedly the restaurant is smallish,
parking is limited, there's no place for a group photo, and the lights
are too dim; I've complained to them about those lights but it doesn't
do much good. Keep in mind that they don't have a gaming license, so
they don't turn the revenue that most of the other hotels do. Just
as an aside comment, I really like Monica's suggestion for Tuscany,
they seem to cater to an older more mature crowd, and if Monica is right
about their acceptance of us we would fit in well there. Soooo, just
let me hear from you, for or against, and we'll see what happens next.

Cordially, Diva Cynthia

Hi All.
I visit LV quite often and I have played and stayed at most of the casinos. I haven't stayed at the The Tuscany but have played and dined there a couple of times.
The parking is large and the Tuscany is a short cab ride to the strip and let's say to Ballys for instance it would be no more than $6 or $7 at most so it is within striking distance of where most of our people are staying with a view to pre getting together for events.
The CAT transit bus stops at or very near in both directions and they are friendly and courteous there too.

The best way to find a place to stay is not just join the players club but make sure that you sign up for E mail promotions too. . Obviously this goes for any Casino but if anyone is considering the Tuscany the message below is the latest one they sent to me... this week . I am sure that if anyone wrote to them they would add you to the mailing list and if you book early I suspect the rates would be in this range.
I hope this helps someone or even starts a trend. The Tuscany is in what I would consider a nice location off strip.
Huggers. Katie
