Fairly serious restroom incident at Cosmopolitan ...

This is a good point.

Although some may view the apology as vacuous corporate circumlocution, this is the first time I'm aware of any facility apologizing for a restroom incident.

I know of a few cases where management sure owed someone an apology (anybody's ears burning?) but this is the first time I remember of an admission of an error.

They are a new hotel on the Strip and this is the first problem. They have
thousands of employees and you really have to give them the benefit of the
doubt that this was just one employee who overstepped their authority.

They have apologized and I think we need to accept that or we are doing the
same thing judging them based on one incident and not as a whole.

I think that time will tell and if they are sorry for the incident then
changes will have been made and there should be no more problems. I think
the fact they apologized show they are trying.

I think the item we need to keep an eye on regarding this particular topic is the bill that is currently crawling its way through the Nevada State Legislature. There are a number of TG-related bills in various phases.

The one that covers public accommodations does not reek of the various "Bathroom Bills" which get the Wingers' skivvies in a wad. It starts out with a lot of housing stuff but does have a general clause about public accommodations in there. I haven't heard of any serious opposition to this - yet.

I'm hoping that the recent LVRJ and ACLU publicity does not bring it to the attention of the self-appointed guardians of the Way Things Ought To Be.

I was not there so I am over it, sort of! If we get these conversations
out enough then people who cause these type of incidents will get the
idea that if they don't treat "ALL" persons with equal courtesies then
they WILL get poor press. There are a lot of sympathetic "non-dressers"
out there who will follow these incidents and apply themselves
appropriately in the future. How do you think we have got the rights and
courtesies we get today, by easily forgiving and keeping quiet? no by
voicing our concerns and get them out to everyone who makes contact with
us, even our elected officials. So I am over it but will continue to be
verbal, which may make it easier for the up and coming "Diva's" of the
future, like those before did for us. I am 60, as of May 7th, and 52/53
years ago when I started dressing we had no rights and "never" ventured
out in daylight without the possibility of receiving physical harm, now
we shop for our clothes and can tell the clerk they are for us, not for
a female relative. All these things came from being verbal and letting
people know how we felt and how many of us are out there. One day we may
be able to walk down the streets without people staring or snickering,
but if not us then those who come after us. As the old farmer said to
the sheriff near the end of the movie "To Wong Foo..." when the sheriff
commented on how our forefathers would fell about the drag queens, the
old man said " ...they sure had nice wigs". I hope my comments gave
someone a good feeling and hope for the future.

Did someone forget that it took several contacts to the Cosmo, and
negative press in the papers and online news services, to get the
apology? Wow, I wonder if there would have been one if we all didn't
bitch about it and give a sh*t (please excuse the Irish terminology
}%^P) .

This is all fine and good, but, maybe we should have a plackard, like
the handicap people have to hang from their vehicles mirror, only ours
will say "Transgendered Person Inside... Do Not Enter if you feel this
may offend you" then we can get a law passed that states that anyone who
causes harm to a transgendered person is subject to Felony Prosecution
and a minimum of 5 years to 25 year maximum in prison, we can hang it
outside the bathroom door before we enter. HA-HA-HA, only kidding about
the sign part, and like that law will ever happen, or will it? If we
keep quiet, no, but if we continue to speak up then mayme. I'll take a
maybe over a no anyday.

Anybody catch the McDonald incident on Youtube? A White TG beaten up by
two (2) Black girls while the employees watched and videoed it with
their cell phones and posted it. An elderly Hispanic lady is the only
one that went to her aid and defense. I think it was in Montana or
Colorado, I can't remember which.
