Wife Problem?

Dear Gina and Ginger

(hey that sound like a good name for a drink "give me a Gina and Ginger
on the Rocks"), joke, joke, joke, thats all I do.

My wife is non-approving also, I am trying to rent Robert Wagners boat
and take her 1/2 way to Catalina Island like he did Natalie Wood. Anyone
want to bring their non-accepting spouse or SO? Maybe we can get a
bargain discount.

Just kidding, but it does make me think of a joke :

Two guys are sitting in a bar talking about their spouses when guy #1
says "I'm on my third wife, my first two died very tragic deaths". guy
#2 says "Man that's terrible, how did they die"? Guy #1 replies "the
first one from eating poison mushrooms and the second from a fractured
skull".............. "She would not eat her mushrooms" ! ! ! !

Enjoy DLV. Wish I could make it, my hand is still in a cast from a Feb
01 surgery. Dressing (especially the corset lacing), makeup, hair,
etc... is impossible with one hand, typing is bad enough (thank God, or
Bill Gates, for spell check, };^D . If my situation should I may make
it there at the last minute, hope there are still rooms available.

I'm a long time "Dresser" about 51-52 years, but only out twice (except
for Halloween), both times at the same place, Hamburger Mary's in Long
Beach, CA. (hamburgermaryslb.com). 1st time on 03/08, second time on
03/15 for "T-Girl Tuesdays". I figure if I can get around a crowd, I can
come out in the daylight too.

Love to all,

Katherine / Kat

As much as I enjoyed my four-year run I won't be coming to Diva Las Vegas again this year. It would be fun, of course, but it's hard to justify devoting a week to it every year when it's no longer my sole outlet for expressing my gender identity. Even so, I have enjoyed watching the planning process and hearing from people I met in previous years who are anxiously looking forward to the event and I hope everyone enjoys themselves.

I thought reading this thread would be fun and maybe I'd weigh in with some of the things I'll miss most about the week. Then I got to the last post before this one. Look, I understand how frustrating it can be to be married to someone who doesn't understand something that's important to you. That's no excuse for making light of the very real threat of violence women face in relationships. Perhaps it's worth asking yourself: if your wife isn't supporting your choices and interests, might it have something to do with how much respect and support you show her and the things that are important to her?

I hope the fact that this was an active thread right up to the "joke" when activity suddenly ended is a hint of how uncomfortable others were as well. As a community of people living under the threat of violence ourselves I would think we could collectively show a lot more empathy. Speaking as someone who aspired to live her life as a women I found it useful to walk in the shoes of my fellow women metaphorically as well as literally.

In all honesty, I'm looking forward to the karaoke more than anything else. I am the worst example of hard-core karaoke addict you will ever meet, but you can take advantage of my condition by showing up at the beauty bar and checking out the amazing show I plan to put on.

How's that for "talking trash"? I guess I'm going to have to do something pretty stunning if I don't want to look stupid now.

I'm also looking forward to the gun show, Rocky Horror (unscheduled early Saturday night), the shooting event, any poker tournaments that I get a chance to enter (and will probably win), French food and wines at the Paris, Frank Marino and any other shows we decide to do, the neon sign museum, horse ranch, and meeting up with friends, old and new.

Just being in Vegas again will be good, as will taking a trip with Tony in our own airplane. An extra week off, with a chance to become intoxicated with alcohol and other substances, will be sweet.

All things considered, I'm having trouble coming up with anything about DLV that I am not really looking forward to. It is going to be quite a week.

/me will be there. :)

I prolly won't sing, but I'll listen and watch and take in a few adult beverages. :)

Gun show?

Not that I'm interested, but I don't think there's one on during DLV this year.

Yes, and we will be there to make sure that you take in your beverage of choice.

Maybe we can get the staff from the Paris to come and watch...they might be tempted to hire me and pay me more than I make driving a truck, to do a French floor show...

...or maybe I'm just dreaming, but some of my strangest dreams have a way of coming true. After all, I'm a married woman. Who saw that one coming?

Oh, I thought someone had mentioned a gun show. I would be interested, but if there isn't one in Vegas that week, no problem. There is always another gun show somewhere. Someday, some way, I wil fulfill my childhood dream of owning a firearm. :)

I've been doing mostly beer lately, and it's kinda hard to sneak a shot of Galiano [sic] into a bottle of beer. :)

That sounds like a Challenge.

Well, you can always try the Galiano Challenge on some unsuspecting newbees. :)

And if nobody takes you up on it, we can have Ginger lament on how Galiano [sic] supports the efforts toward world peace, and how she wandered into the earthier parts of town one year and drank Galiano [sic] with some of the street people. :)

It's a good thing there's a blushing emotion readily available. I appreciate the kind words and really will miss seeing everyone, so I'll just have to look forward to hearing wonderful things after the fact.
