Makeover protocol

What is the protocol for a makeover? I suppose these are the type of makeover where someone does all of your makeup for you. How do you go to one without breaking the "rules"? (ie I look pretty funny in a dress and wig with no make up on)

Great question. I'm actually the hostess for the Macy's makeover experience scheduled for Friday the 8th.

There are a couple ways to approach this. First of all, and most importantly, if you are having a mainstream makeover (as in one that is not at a TG oriented establishment), chances are good that if you have significant issues with beard coverage, the artist likely won't have the product or technique to achieve the coverage you are looking for. For anyone who this applies to, I would recommend going into the makeover with your foundation in place and then having an "eyes/cheeks/lips" makeover done by the artist.

Otherwise, if coverage isn't an issue, the artist always has makeup remover on hand. It's as simple as taking away what you arrived in, giving her a clear palette to work with. Of course you can go in without makeup at all but that depends on one's comfort level.

When I'm doing a makeover I wear sunglasses and lipstick; if beard were
a problem I'd wear enough foundation to cover, but I don't have that
problem

Also, I've found that along with the sunglasses, wearing a turban or scarf
over the head and wrapped around the neck, ala Lana Turner, helps, at least
for me. I do tend to get a shadow on my chin and under my nose and do use a
great concealer I purchased last year at Glamour Boutique in LV. It is the
best I've used. It's an orange colored concealer and neutralizes the gray
tones from the beard and mustache shadow. Ask Amy at GB about it. I'm sure
it's a regular product she carries all the time. Hope that helps...Rosada
