Getting ready for DLV 2011

Postby Bev » Thu Feb 17, 2011 6:35 pm

I think I am correct in thinking that this discussion board is intended to be use for fun discussions as well as important updates to what is being planned for this year's event. If I am wrong then please remove this post. Otherwise, I would like to see what others are doing to get ready for Diva Las Vegas in 44 days.
I was out shopping today, looking for new clothes to take for DLV. Now I know I had plenty of clothes with me last year. In fact, I took home 6 outfits that I had packed and never got around to wearing. So do I really need anything new for this year? I'm not listening to any of you who answered that "no". Of course I need new clothes for this year's trip!
Tonight I am going to look through my closet and lay out what outfits I plan to take. That way I will know what holes are in my wardrobe, what needs to be added, what needs to be replace, etc. This will also allow me to look at my shoes and jewelry as well. I certainly wouldn't want to wait till the last moment to do this.
Have you started any planning for your DLV adventure? How about sharing with us what you are doing. I think this will help many new attendees to get an idea of what the veterans are doing.

Getting ready for DLV 2011

I have just begun the same process Beverly. Having to travel by air I
want to be a efficient as possible and as you Beverly need new
things.

I haven't been through my closet yet but going to DLV has been a good
time to get rid of stuff I don't wear anymore.

I have read in a magazine somewhere that you should go through your
closet like you shop. If there is a dress there that if hanging in a
shop you would never consider then it's time to send it to a mission.

I'd love to hear about other's adventures and what they are wearing.

Getting ready for DLV 2011

Of course, you need new clothes. We all need new clothes, and shoes, and
handbags.

Sometimes you need them simply for the fact that one has outgrown some
of the outfits. If they don't fit any longer, well it's time to give
them a new home. Then, there some of us, and sometimes I fall into that
category, that hang on to stuff (outfits), which we really shouldn't, in
hopes that someday the style will come back, or that we'll drop those
few pounds, okay well maybe 10 to 20 pounds, to be able to get back into
them. Realistically for me the days of me wearing something very slim
are long gone, besides I'm happy the way I am now. Yes, I could loose a
couple of pounds but I'm not going to ever look like Twiggy again, and I
don't want to, so that's that.

Whenever I'm out and about, if I see something that is priced just right
I'll go ahead and get it. This year I'm planning on taking some of my
outfits I no longer use and see if I can put them on consignment at GB.
I've already started pulling stuff off hangers and setting them aside.

Can't wait to see you all!

Hi.
You ladies have inspired me. I dived into action today and spread a few things out on the bed to see what wonderful choices I had going for me for D L V 2011, Some major decisions were made in the process!

Maybe this should be a separate post but I'd like to know what you are bringing, in general. You know: one casual outfit...shorts, t-shirt, sandals. 2 outfits for clubbing...1 black dress, one mini-skirt, black pumps....etc

When I first started going to events like this years ago I would foolishly pack several outfits for each day. My thoughts were that I would wear one outfit in the morning, then go back to my room after lunch and change into something else. Also, I would have an outfit to wear for dinner and whatever entertainment I was going to attend. Then it would be back to my room to change into some kind of club-wear for the late night out.
I quickly realized that I was doing good if I changed out of my daytime wear into nighttime wear most days. And seldom did I make it back to my room after my evening out to change into the club-wear clothes.
Last year at DLV I planned on two outfits a day and also brought along 3 or 4 party clothes. I still managed to bring home outfits that I never wore there. I found that I really liked wearing comfortable and casual clothes during the daytime, then changed into a nice outfit for the evening. That was all I really needed.
The MOST important lesson I learned (and re-learn with each trip I make to Las Vegas) is the importance of comfortable shoes. I can't believe how much walking I do there. Heels are great looking for nights out but give me some comfortable flats for my daytime treks.
Special note to Rosada... every time I saw you last year you looked FANTASTIC!!!
