Marisa and I have been talking about several different options and want
to run them out for a larger group to comment on.

The Neon Boneyard. This is the graveyard/museum for the old electric
signs that graced Las Vegas in days past. Some of the signs have been
restored and can be seen in the Fremont street area, but this is outdoor
storage. There are two tours each day and reservations are a good idea.
The cost is $20 per person and the tour docent takes the group through
the are to discuss and answer questions. A maximum of 20 people are
allowed on each tour and groups of 5 or more require advance payment to
reserve the spots.

Madame Trussaud's Wax Museum. Be seen with the stars. Admission is
$25.00 with web discounts (and probably others) that will bring it down
to $20 or less. This is a very mainstream activity that opens at 10:00
and runs late most of the time.

Las Vegas Mob Experience. A brand new 'interactive' exhibit at the
Tropicana that recreates and displays information about the lawless days
that lead to the Las Vegas we know and love today. This isn't open yet
but should be running when DLV rolls around. Admission is $30 or an
annual pass for $49. This could have some dressing theme options for
anyone who wants to give it a try. Again this is very mainstream and
could be an interesting option either for an afternoon or as an evening
activity.

Others have mentioned the Erotic Heritage Museum and I don't have
anything on that, but would love to hear more detail from anyone
familiar with the venue. In the past we have made regular visits to the
Bellagio Museum of Fine Art. This year DLV occurs just between shows
there, so it probably won't be an option for 2011.

It's lookin good. The Neon museum is planning on being open this fall at
regular hours (no reservations necessary) and the LV mob museum (being
built near Fremont St) is planning on opening this fall also,so these 2
could be easy to put together for next years tour.

Do you think that the tour would fit in maybe on tuesday afternoon with
a HH get together after the experience would work? The hours at the EHM
are sun-thur 11am-3pm,fri & sat noon-10pm ($15), this place is very xxx
and more. I'm thinkin Madame Tussauds or the LVME will go the best for a
main tour.

There are some awesome photos ops at the Neon Boneyard. I seen a few bridal party photo sessions at the Boneyard.

I've seen some of those photos, and as someone mentioned earlier it's a
popular "Trash the Dress" site as well. That's where the Bride either
temporarily or permanently destroys the wedding dress in a special photo
shoot following all the formal, restrictive parts of the wedding.

There are several opportunities at the Wax Museum to pose with some of
the characters they have on display as well.

I don't know too much about the Mob Experience yet, but it is advertised
as an interactive exhibit. That could include everything from photos to
teaming up with someone else to becoming part of the story they are
telling. This one could be great or it could be a bust since we don't
really know much about it yet.

This is actually becoming a very trendy, almost mainstream subgenre of bridal and fashion photography.

Locally, an abandoned passenger railway station has become a very popular backdrop for such shoots, abandoned platforms, stairways, etc.

The most extreme example I've seen of this was a "Polar Bear" type of shoot. Brrrrrrr!

I understand that this is not connected with the soon-to-be-opened Mob Museum (Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement) but is a separate venture. "Opening 2011" was the last I heard on the status of the Mob Museum.

I haven't heard much feedback on this and would like to see how interested anyone may be in the tours we mentioned. The Wax Museum, Neon Boneyard and Las Vegas Mob Experience were the initial suggestions. I don't know when the Mob experience will actually open, but we hope it will be before we hit town.

The other option that was mentioned by someone else was the Erotic Heritage Museum. This is another Daytime activity that could be on the list if there is interest.

How about a trip to the Gold and Silver Pawn shop of History Channel "Pawn Stars" fame. As Seen on TV!
