Welcome:
Welcome to everybody who recently joined the list or registered! We have
quite a few newcomers since the last mailing, including several from the
Las Vegas area. Hope everybody will be joining us this May.

Golfers, let your thoughts be known, please.
This is something that will fit fine as a "second track" activity almost
any morning or afternoon.

Shows:
>Thanks for the update. We would like to know about the Cirque shows..
>any info you can provide will be helpful. thanks...
I'm assuming you mean the two Cirque Du Soleil shows that are appearing
in Las Vegas. _Mystere_ (pronounced mis-tear) is appearing at Treasure
Island and _O_ is appearing at Bellagio. I've seen _Mystere_ but not
_O_. I think the phrase "Circus as theater" best describes what I saw.
Very entertaing I will say. Artsy, yes, but I like it too. :)
They tell me (the ubiquitous "they") that these usually sell out
days in advance for the weekend shows. They are a bit pricey, if I
remember correctly.
We don't have plans to get a group to go to either, but there are some
evenings where you could sneak away to take in something like this. I
know Treasure Island is at least t-tolerant, as several of our people
visited and played there last year.
There are two other "artsy" shows playing. _Blue_Man_Group_ is at the
Luxor and is well worth it. Not as artsy as _Mystere_ and not as earthy
as _Stomp_ but somewhere inbetween. (Don't be late!) _De_La_Guardia_
opened recently at the Rio. "Theater that falls from the sky" is what
they say. I haven't seen it (yet).
Late-breaking net.rumor, and as of this time, that's what this is,
rumor ... Word on the street is that _O_ will be either closing, or
not renewed when its term expires. Again, strictly rumor as of this
time.

Mailbag:
>Would like to register please. Please tell me how to do so.
It's easy. Just visit the URL:
http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/register.html
Answer a few questions and you will be all set. Remember to write down
or cut-paste the confirmation number you will get.
If for some reason you can't access the web form, or if you would just
prefer to do it the old way, you can register by e-mail. Send mail to:
dlv@geekbabe.com
>Also please tell me how to hook up with a roommate. I would like to stay
>at the Sahara.
If you've already booked a room, and would like for somebody else to
stay with you and share the expense, or if you're looking for somebody
who has extra space, please write to the list (dlv@geekbabe.com) with
the word "Roommate" somewhere in the subject line. Please include the
following items in your e-mail:
1. Your name.
2. Your e-mail address.
3. What date you will be arriving and what date you will be departing.
4. Do you have a room to share, or do you need space in one.
5. Any annoying habits or traits you have. (Do you smoke, do you snore,
are you a very early riser, compulsive talker, late-nite MTV addict,
etc.)
6. Any additional notes or comments.
When we have roommate items, we will include them in a special ongoing
section toward the bottom of each mailing. Those interested in sharing
rooms can then contact each other by e-mail and make arrangements.
Please remember, any roommate arrangements are strictly between the
people involved, and I or anybody else cannot be responsible if things
don't work out (etc. etc., you know the drill).

Thanks, Denise and Gina. I can see this being a major hit at DLV!
>> * Golf (Michelle's personal fave :)
>> * Sight Seeing
>> * Strat tower
>> * Comedy club
>> * Star Trek ride at the Hilton.
>> * neon sign junkyard.
>My favorites out of the listed activites, in no particular order, but

Looks like golf is in the works (see above). As for sight-seeing, we have
the Strip tour on Saturday, the dam tour on Sunday, and the trip to
Rhyolite on Monday. This does not include the beautiful sights you will
see at the DLV functions! <bfg>
As for the Strat tower, I'll wait below and play VP. :)
Comedy club could be done as an option on Wednesday, Thursday, or Monday
evening. I've been to the one at the Riviera, and it can be good or
bad depending on who's playing. They say the one at Harrah's can be the
same. Most people who have seen Dr. Naughty say it's not worth it.
Star Trek can be done almost any morning or afternoon.
I used to know where the neon junkyard (Yesco) was. It was kinda secluded
west of the Strip off Tropicana. I could probably find it again, but I've
been told much of it has been barricaded from public view.
So many things to do ... so little time {sigh}!

T-shirts:
Ok, this is really gonna happen this year. :)
The DLV 1999 commemorative t-shirts are about ready to go. I had to
settle on a different shade of beige (original discontinued) and tweak
the color a wee bit. This has the DLV logo and the dates of DLV 1999. If
you attended DLV 1998 and either returned in 2000 or will attend this
year, you are eligible for one of these. Please "reconfirm" your shirt
size in both your adult t-shirt size and regular dress size (I use two
suppliers) and your shirt will be ready for you at DLV.
If you attended DLV 2000 and will be returning for DLV 2001, you are
eligible for one of the newer shirts. The color scheme is similar to
what's on the file http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlv2001/dlv2001c.gif
except the background (shirt body) is more pink instead of the violet
shown in the image. This will have a slightly larger DLV logo very
similar to the image file. If you attended last year and will be
returning this year, and would like one of these, please reply with
your adult t-shirt size and your regular dress size (I use two
suppliers who size differently) and it will be waiting for you in May.

Ok, ya got me there! (Checking hair to see if I'm turning blonde.)
I remember now, they didn't take American Express. :)

Ok, I'll do both. It's also on line at the url:

I've made a link to it from the DLV FAQ.

Yes, you might mention it's not nice to trick innocent girls into taking
multiple shots of Galiano. :) {Jeez that stuff is NASTY!}
I do agree shots are best done in boymode. :)

+Many t* girls spend a lot of time in bars. I know I do. Sometimes this
+is a result of personal lifestyle and entertainment choices, in other
+instances it is a reflection of how much t* social life involves gay and
+tranny bars. Even if you are just a social drinker in the privacy of
+your own or friends' homes, I hope you'll find the following advice
+interesting and useful.
+
+1). Don't get drunk in public. There are few sights more pathetic than
+that of a queen down on her knees worshipping the porcelain goddess.
+Considering the state of most public restrooms, you won't like the
+memory the next morning. Besides it will ruin your hose, guaranteed.
+
+2). Observe the way genetic girls (GGs) drink in public. It's the same
+way they do in private. They sip drinks instead of gulping them down.
+Sipping takes longer, so you'll drink less.
+
+3). Girls use straws. If the bartender doesn't put a straw in your
+drink, ask him/her for one. If the bartender forgets again for your
+second drink, then he/she is either incompetent, incredibly
+absent-minded, or just a jerk.. Unless they have otherwise been very
+friendly, move to a different part of the bar, or go to a different
+establishment. Insist on respect, and give your business to places that
+give you your due.
+
+4). Don't drink shots. They just aren't enjoyable unless you swig them
+in one gulp, and that just isn't lady-like (even though some GGs do).
+And, candidly, shots just get you drunk faster. Taboo!
+
+5). Drink plenty of water when drinking alcohol. Alcohol dehydrates
+you. Dehydration can make a hangover worse. Learn to ask for a glass
+of water between drinks. You'll drink less, spend less, and avoid
+drying out your throat (which can help you maintain that pretty feminine
+voice).
+
+6). Can we talk here? Don't mix sex and binge drinking. If you're at a
+tranny bar, and you're new to going out dressed, you may be surprised at
+the number of t* admirers you meet. Their attention can be very
+flattering, but if too much booze numbs your brain, you may stop
+thinking sensibly and make some terrible mistakes. Alcohol removes your
+inhibitions, which is another way of saying that it messes up your
+normal thinking processes. Keep control, and know what you're doing.
+You'll enjoy it more if you can remember it.
+
+Finally, and I really mean this from the heart, DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE.
+Take a taxi home. You'll thank yourself in the morning.
