DLV 2004 dates finalized:

Very few concerns were received regarding the proposed DLV 2004 dates,
therefore the timeframe of Monday, May 3 thru Saturday, May 8 may be
considered to be the dates for DLV 2004.

For those concerned about the weather, this should give us warm (but not
too hot) days and cool (but not cold) evenings.

These dates have now been marked as final on the web site.

Indoor skydiving -- feedback requested:

Yes, this is an unusual activity for a t* event, but there has been
interest expressed in it.

We need some feedback to determine if we should go ahead and make
arrangements to put this on the schedule for DLV 2004. This would be a
limited-interest activity and most likely two-tracked against something
else some afternoon, so doing it will not crowd out any of the other
activities.

This would be done in a wind tunnel, in a facility right off the Strip
just down from the Stardust.

The session would consist of instruction, followed by an individual
free-fall (not a tandem jump) in the wind tunnel.

Cost is about $50 per person, but we do get a price break if we have
a group of 15 or more.

If this sounds like something you would be interested in doing next May
at DLV, please write in (dlv@geekbabe.com or just reply to this) and say
so. If we get some positive responses, we'll check it out further and

Possible bogus mail from dlv@geekbabe.com :

It's come to our attention that some people have received bogus e-mail
containing a virus which appeared to have originated from the address of
dlv@geekbabe.com.

Please be assured this did not come from us.

The machine which handles the DLV mail does not have the ability to run
or spread the common e-mail virus and worm programs.

From the samples that were sent in, it appears that the
dlv@geekbabe.com address was in somebody's address book and was
picked up when a variant of the SoBig virus was run on that machine.

All mailings from dlv@geekbabe.com should have the letters "dlv"
followed by one space as the first part of the subject field.

Please forward any suspicious mail that appears to have come from any
geekbabe.com e-mail address to abuse@geekbabe.com and we will examine
it. Please be sure to include full headers.

Club, merchant and vendor ratings:

Thanks to those who recently sent in additions, ratings, and updates for
our big list of places to go and things to do in Las Vegas.

This is turning out to be very popular, getting about 100 hits daily.

Pinkfest 2003 takes place in Chicago this coming October 24-26. This is
much smaller than DLV, and is another "vacation, not a convention" and
was formed by some of the people who first had the idea for DLV back in

Fall Harvest 2003 takes place in Omaha this coming October 30 thru
November 2. Yes, this is Halloween weekend. :) This will probably be

Tiny Bubbles in Atlantic City:

Steve (Tiny Bubbles) sends in the following:

+Steve "Tiny Bubbles" Daly and Antonio Hoyos will be appearing at the
+Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic Sity, N.J. September 12th thru
+November 27th in David Saxes "Showgirls of Magic" (The Red Unit) This
+will be a "covered" version of the show that has ran for more than 8
+years now in Las Vegas.

+The original "Showgirls of Magic" (the BLUE Unit - Cause they work
+topless- heehee) will remain in Las Vegas at the San Remo Hotel and
+Casino.

+If you are planning on being in the Atlantic City area between Sept.
+8th (rehearsals begin on the 8th) and Thanksgiving Day, PLEASE drop in
+and say HELLO!

If you enjoyed Showgirls Of Magic at DLV (or even if you missed it) and
you're in the Atlantic City area, be sure to stop by the Tropicana and
see the show and say hi.

For those who don't recognize the name Antonio Hoyos, he was the one who
played Sonny, opposite Tiny's Cher impression. He also appeared in the
"Great Antoine" magic skit.
