Latest headcount:

Validated registrations: 52, Validated SO's: 11, Validated headcount: 63
Validations outstanding: 1

We've already passed what was our total headcount at DLV 2000!

Headcount projection (still a guess at this time) is 110-130 total,
again, with never the complete group in one place at any one time.

There have been two recent major hotel closures in Las Vegas, and
it's been reported that some online travel sites are still accepting
reservations for both of them. Both Binion's Horseshoe and Castaways
(nee Showboat) have recently closed. Although there's speculation of
one or both reopening shortly, I would not suggest that DLV people
book these. Neither one appears on our list of suggested hotels.

There's been a slight change in the registration process this year,
involving one more step to complete your registration. We hope you
will understand the need for the additional formality.

read it carefully, and follow the instructions to validate your DLV 2004
registration.

This assures that it is indeed you who has registered, that you have
read the validation e-mail, and that e-mail works both ways between you
and us.

Your cooperation with the new registration process is appreciated.

let us know and we will see where things did not work.

Another golf item which we're doing again this year is the DLV Golf
mailing list. This will start up very shortly. This is for people who
want to play golf with our group and want to discuss the details.

If you would like to receive the golf mailing list, either send in a

that you want to receive the golf list.

We will be starting the golf list this coming week and from now on,
all golf discussion that is not of general interest will appear on the

The Night Of The Soiled Doves:

Each regular mailing prior to DLV will feature one DLV activity in
detail.

This week we feature Tuesday evening's "Night of the Soiled Doves."

You may have seen this activity on one of the schedules and wondered
what just what the heck it is.

This should give you a good idea (if you read between the lines), but
many of the details will remain a surprise!

If you are one who wants an activity where it's ok to dress in a manner
that's a bit more flashy or exotic, this is it!

This is a two-part activity, and both parts are optional.

First is a surprise side trip, for a very unique happy hour and photo op
session.

The details and exact destination will be revealed just before the side
trip departs.

The side trip is expected to take about 3 hours total. All arrangements
have been made and our hostesses are expecting us.

I think it's very safe to say that this will be a "first" for any major
t* event. :)

Those not going on the side trip will be able to attend a local happy
hour, with the same dress being appropriate.

Second, we'll continue the evening of fun and people-watching at one of
LV's most glamorous and exclusive night hot-spots, the Las Vegas Lounge.

Yes, go see and be seen!

Cost: On one's own for drinks, etc. For those going on the side trip, a
modest donation to your driver's gas fund and the gratuity pool will be
expected.

Dress: Just about anything goes. Clubwear/flashy/trashy is not only
appropriate but is encouraged. Just about any "normal" wear from casual
to dressy to formal, boymode or girlmode, is fine too.

Oh, and you can expect some other "surprises" associated with this night
as well. :)

Big Sister Program:

Our Big Sister program helps those who are new to public exposure or are
concerned or uncertain about the upcoming trip.

Our volunteer Big Sisters are DLV veterans who have stepped forward to
help those who are following in their footsteps.

Hotel Oops:

It's come to our attention that one hotel which appeared on our list of
suggested hotels (Comfort Inn) was nominated in error. It's now been
removed from the list. It is, however, most likely a very nice place,
but it was not the property that one of our volunteers had intended
to nominate.
