DLV 2007 updates:

We're closing in on the six week mark! As of this morning we have 157
validated attendees, including 31 SOs. Again, no validations are
outstanding. We appreciate the cooperation on this very much! Thanks.

Welcome to those who just registered or joined the list. Yes, there's
still time to get in on things. It's very important that you make
your travel and lodging arrangements without delay, as this is the
time that prices start rising significantly.

Sahara is still showing good availability and good rates -- for now.

Imperial Palace still has rooms for DLV week, but prices have gone
up somewhat.

At last report, the special DLV rate was still available at the
St Tropez.

Things to come:

The next big thing to come is activity sign-up. This will start on
or about April 1.

This is where you, the attendee, will tell us which of the many
optional activities you will want to do.

"So, why do you make such a big deal of this?", you might ask.

This one process gives us headcounts and sign-up lists for over 20
activities, something that would take countless hours if it had to
be done manually. It also lets you to sign up for all of these at
one time at a one-stop-shop, and gives you any important additional
information about the activities you are signing up for.

Here's how this works:

Everybody who holds a validated registration will receive an e-mail
with a clickable link to their own personal activity screen. It
takes only a few minutes to make your activity selections, and for
most of the activities, you can change your mind prior to DLV.

When the Large Final Mailing (see below) comes out, it will include
a list of everything you're signed up for, with information about
each activity on your personal itinerary.

Activity sign-up also performs another important function, in that
it also reconfirms your intent to attend DLV. That's why we ask you
to do this even if you aren't interested in any of the optional
activities.

The Large Final Mailing:

One very important difference between Diva Las Vegas and other events
you may have attended is that at most of the other events, when you
check in, they will hand you a whole bundle of various papers such
as schedule, map, promotional items, etc.

This does not happen at DLV. We try to be as paperless as possible!

During the week before DLV we will send out what we call the Large
Final Mailing, which will contain, among other things:

* Final detailed schedule, with locations, times, dress suggestions.

* Very detailed directions to most activity locations.

* Link to a printable map of most activity locations.

* List of volunteer drivers and those who will be needing rides.

* Local contact phone numbers and "Big Sister Hotline" number.

* Check-in times, locations, and information.

* Your personal "itinerary", what you are signed up for.

You should plan to print out what you will need, in particular the
schedule and itinerary. Those who aren't very familiar with Las
Vegas should also print out the map and directions.

No, we won't have copies for those who forget. We will have
directions to the nearest Kinkos shop, however. :)

Checking in:

When you get to Las Vegas, you may check in at any DLV activity
which is marked "check-in available" on the final schedule, such
as the daily Lunch With Ginger (or Lori), the Welcome Celebration,
etc.

Yes, this year we promise that if it says "check-in available",
there *WILL* be a check-in host or hostess present at that time!

You may check in either in boymode or girlmode, that's entirely up
to you.

If you're new and don't know anybody yet, we'll have one of our
volunteers introduce you around. If you're a bit nervous or need
assistance with something, one of our Big Sisters can help. If you
get "stuck" in your hotel room or vehicle, phone our Big Sister
Hotline (number will be sent out in Large Final Mailing).

Pity Party:

The name "Pity Party" comes from the original idea of providing an
activity to "take pity" upon those who could not go to the big show,
but the whole concept has expanded to something that stands on its
own quite well and is no longer just a second-choice option.

Mindy will be host(ess)ing this party again this year. Please join
us in thanking Mindy (in unison now, "Thanks, Mindy") for the time
and effort.

As Mindy writes:

The annual pity party will be Thursday night the 26th. Time and
location to be determined soon.

I am looking for people who would like to be a part of the Drag
show we do each year. For local gals I would like to have a few
rehearsals and maybe put together a couple of easy production
numbers. I have a lot of music and would be willing to work
with any girls who would like to perform but have never done
so before. It would be a lot of fun and I may even have a club
where we could do a regular show a couple of nights a month.

I have some special music for girls who would like to do Cher
(all looks) in a production number. Also would like to do a
50_s production number. Also have some ideas for Mama Cass,
some country songs and some torch light songs. We also need
one or two people to work back stage.

For you out of town girls please let me know if your interested
and let me know what numbers you would like to do. If you are
interested in being in one of the production numbers I can send
you some music and the basic ideas and work you in at a run
through early in the week.

This year we will be sure to avoid the problems of the changes
in food etc. That happened last year when the club we had it at
changed owners at the last minute.

Dress: "Vegas Cocktail Party" dress suggested. Flashy is fine,
trashy is not. "Smart casual" is fine, as is dressy attire, even
formal if you like, boymode or girlmode.

Sahara status:

As has been reported, the Sahara Hotel and Casino has been sold.

A quick conversation with the Sahara confirmed that there will be
no significant impact to DLV 2007.

The exact quote is "It's business as usual for at least six months
and probably more after that."

Rooms are still available there and there should be no concerns of
anything unexpected.
