Welcome:

Just a little more than two weeks to go! Yes, everybody's getting
excited, and with good reason!

This is a long mailing, sorry, but this is most relevant to the
upcoming DLV 2008.

We are now in our "crunch time", and things are happening very
quickly.

One of the most important things from now until DLV is that if
there are any questions or concerns, you need to get them
addressed sooner rather than later!

From now until DLV, our general mailings will be sent out
as needed, but keeping to the weekend schedule as closely as
is possible.

Some of you have seen the notices, and have expressed concern
about capacity. The reason those notices were put up is that we
have seen an exceptionally high rate of sign-up since we opened
general registration in March. Even when large allowances for
drop-outs and no-shows were factored in, our projections of
headcount zoomed off the chart.

Things are now settling down to a sane level. We will have a
large group, but we don't anticipate actually having to turn
anyone away due to not having room. However, do be aware that
for those who have yet to register, or have yet to sign up
for activities, your participation may be limited.

We don't have any total hard limit on capacity, but it's the
capacity of the individual activities, which will vary from
activity to activity, which will determine how much you will
be able to participate. See the latest activity capacity
update below.

As far as total headcount, numbers now appear to be converging
in the 130-160 total range. Remember that you will never see
the entire group in any one place at any one time.

The activity with the highest attendance will most likely be
the farewell dinner on Saturday of DLV week, with the Welcome
Celebration on Monday having the second highest attendance.

What you need to do:

Here's a summary of what you need to do, based on where you stand
in the registration process. If you have any questions, or if
something does not seem right, e-mail us at dlv@geekbabe.com and
let us know what is going on or is not going on.

The important thing is, if you need to do something, you need
to do it >>NOW<<. Time is getting very tight.

IF YOU HAVE NOT REGISTERED YET:

If you want to attend DLV 2008 but you have not registered, the
first thing you need to do is register.

Before you register, be aware that we will be near capacity, and
you will be "joining the line at the end" so to speak. Please
consider this carefully before you make any non-refundable
arrangements. FOR ANY ACTIVITIES WITH A PHYSICAL VENUE CAPACITY
LIMIT, PRIORITY WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE WHOSE REGISTRATIONS ARE
DATED BEFORE APRIL 1.

Please remember to READ the validation e-mail and respond as it
asks to do. If you respond without reading, it will be very
obvious that you have not read it!

The next thing you will need to do is to make your lodging and
travel arrangements without any further delay!

If you have any difficulty registering, if you don't understand
something, or if you get error messages or something unexpected,
send a brief e-mail to dlv@geekbabe.com and explain what is not
working. We will do things manually if necessary.

DLV 2008 registration closes April 15.

Please be aware that for this year, you must be registered to
particpate in DLV. We will not be admitting un-announced "walk-
ins" or "she's with me" tag-alongs this year.

Something is wrong. You need to contact us. Please send a brief

IF YOU REGISTERED BEFORE LAST FRIDAY AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED YOUR
ACTIVITIES SIGN-UP MAILING:

Again, something is wrong. Most likely this is an outstanding
validation. If you have already sent in your validation e-mail,
send us a note (e-mail dlv@geekbabe.com) and we will look into
things.

Those who registered after Friday morning should receive their
activities sign-up mailings this coming Monday.

You will need to do this at your first opportunity. This is not
optional, even if you do not wish to do any of the listed activities.

This also reconfirms your intent to attend, so it is necessary
to do it if you wish to join us.

Activity sign-up:

Activity sign-up is now in full swing.

Everybody whose registrations were validated prior to Thursday,
April 3, should have received their activity sign-up mailing.

IF YOU HOLD A VALIDATED REGISTRATION (as of April 3) AND HAVE
NOT RECEIVED YOUR ACTIVITY SIGN-UP MAILING, SOMETHING IS WRONG
AND WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT! If this is the case, write in,
just e-mail dlv@geekbabe.com and state that you have not
received your activity sign-up mailing yet.

These problems are usually very easy to troubleshoot, if you
let us know in a timely manner. Fortunately there have been
very few problems reported this year.

Activity sign-up also performs another very important function,
and that is it reconfirms your intent to show up. For this
reason, we ask you to complete the activity sign-up process
even if you don't wish to do any of the optional activities.

As of Saturday afternoon, about 2/3 of the activity sign-ups are
in. Thanks to all for the great initial response! This helps our
activity coordinators get their plans finalized.

If you do not complete the activity sign-up process, you will
get two more notices. If you don't respond in a reasonable
time to three requests to sign up for activities, all we can
assume is that you're no longer interested in attending and
cancel your registration, sorry. :(

Those whose registrations are validated after April 3 can
expect to receive the activity sign-up e-mail on Monday,
April 7. Please be watching for this, and let us know if
it does not arrive by mid-day on Monday, April 7.

Welcome Celebration dinner menu:

We're very happy to report that Mindy has prepared a very nice
menu for us at a most reasonable price.

Mindy writes:

Here's the scoop for the Monday night opening dinner. The food
will be buffet style and includes:

Roast Turkey
Mashed Potatoes
Veggies
Pasta with Marinara and Meatballs
Creole Pilaf
Andouilli Sausage
Chicken/Apple Andouili Sausage
Salad with all the fixings
Ice Cream with Chocolate Sauce

$10.95 per person not including tip.

Please join me in thanking Mindy for these arrangements!

Dinner is optional at the Welcome Celebration. Seating priority
for dinner at the Welcome Celebration will be given to those who
have signed up on the web.

We're looking forward to having all of you with us on Monday of
DLV week.

Activity capacity and such:

As of this Saturday afternoon, the following activities are full
and in a waiting-list state:

Night Of The Soiled Doves, Tuesday
Prime Rib Loft option, Eating Out Night, Wednesday
Trevi option, Eating Out Night, Wednesday
Limo Tour, Thursday evening
Upscale Dining option, Friday evening

Please don't be discouraged if your favorite activity is full!

Out of these, the only one which has a significantly long waiting
list is the Night Of The Soiled Doves. The other waiting lists
are short at this time.

For the Limo Tour, your best chance, if you want to go, is to
select your preferred option (A or E) and your second choice
as the opposite option. We also may be adding another vehicle,
but that decision will not be final until later. This year we
will not be overbooking as last year, which had some problems.

The following activities are approaching capacity:

Alternative Dining Option, Friday evening

There are no capacity issues (yet) on any of the daytime activities,
most of the smaller evening activities, and the two maximum-attendance
gatherings. Although we don't anticipate any issues, should we run
into any physical venue capacity issues, priority will be given to
those whose registrations are dated prior to April 1.

Also nibbles will be available at the Pity Party for a donation to
be determined in the next few days. The Pity Party venue does not
have a kitchen. Nibbles will be provided by the local Tri-Ess
chapter.

Large Final Mailing:

On or about April 15 (yes, tax day here in the States), we will
be e-mailing our Large Final Mailing.

One very important difference between Diva Las Vegas and most of
the other TG events is that WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT DIVA LAS VEGAS AND
CHECK IN, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY PRINTED ITEMS SUCH AS MAPS,
SCHEDULES, ETC!

These will be sent to you in the Large Final Mailing and you
should plan to print these out and take them with you.

The Large Final Mailing will include such things as:

. New "Bare Minimum" section as a "quick-start" guide.
. Your personalized final confirmation and itinerary.
. Final detailed schedule of activities.
. Behavior, dress and restroom guidelines.
. List of volunteer drivers and people who need rides.
. Late notices.
. Check-in instructions.
. Contact phone numbers.
. Big Sister Emergency Hotline number.
. Diva Las Vegas Photo Guidelines.
. Discounts and promotions. (Some good ones this year!)
. Link to activity maps.
. Info on informal off-schedule Pre-DLV happenings.

Please be watching for this around April 15.

If you will be leaving home prior to April 15, you can request
an advance copy of the Large Final Mailing beginning around
April 10 or so. The only caveat is that it may not include
late notices or late schedule changes.

Limo Tour prices:

We hate to raise prices, but when confirming our limo
arrangements with the company, we find that we've been hit
with a "Fuel Surcharge" this year.

Therefore, we've been forced to re-price the Limo Tour tickets
as follows:

A-Ticket (6 per limo): $45
E-Ticket (4 per limo - more room): $60

The sign-up screen has been updated to reflect the change.

If these are too much for you, please go back to the activity
sign-up screen and update your limo sign-up.
