Welcome:

Welcome to those who just registered or just joined the list. If
there are any questions or concerns, please let us know.

If you're new, please catch up on our back mailings at:

http://www.geekbabe.com/annie/dlv09arc/

The mailings dated in January will get you up to speed as to what
is going on regarding the big event.
. . .

Latest numbers:

We broke 100 validated attendees last Saturday, very shortly after
the last general mailing went out. Congratulations to Rhamona of
Phoenix who is number 100 this year!

The 100 mark seems to be what everybody holds their breath for,
and this year we broke it sooner than ever before, both in terms
of the week of the calendar, and in terms of days out from the
event.

We now have 115 validated attendees on the rolls. It's still far
too early for any kind of a total headcount projection, but one
thing is certain. Unless something incredibly tragic occurs,
the predictions of a poor turnout, due to the economy, or
whatever, have vanished!

Activity highlights:

Things are in full swing on the activity front, and we have
a good mix of the old and the new in the works for you this
coming May.

New for DLV 2009 will be such things as:

Dinner at Trevi (Italian) on Wednesday, leading up to the annual
Limousine Tour. We've had smaller groups at Trevi in the past
which were always treated well. This will be our first larger
group at Trevi. Thanks to Michelle (NZ) for arranging the dinner
at Trevi.

Pistol/rifle shooting on Friday. We had a smaller group do this
on their own last year and they had a blast, literally. We've
made this an official activity this year. Thanks to Gina and
Veronica for making this one happen.

Murder Mystery Interactive Dinner-Theater, Friday evening. This
is one of the most unique things to happen at DLV throughout
our history! Thanks to Holly for arranging it.
. . .

We will have two large maximum-attendance gatherings this year,
the Welcome Meet And Greet on Monday, and our Ending Bash on
Saturday. These two activities will give you the opportunity
to meet as many of the others as is possible. Plans are being
firmed up for these two evenings. Thanks to Nora, Mindy, and
Kimberly for coordinating these.

There will be at least one option for lunch with the group
each day. Thanks to Ginger, Mary Beth, and others to be named
for hostessing the daily lunches.
. . .

There will be new twists on some of our recurring features such
as the Limousine Tour on Wednesday, and our ever-popular Night
Of The Soiled Doves on Thursday, with even more game-playing.

We have the annual Diva Las Vegas Invitational Golf, Theater Night
featuring Jersey Boys, Art Tour on Wednesday, Lake Mead Boat Tour,
with optional breakfast on Friday, English High Tea, and many more.

Thanks to JoAnn, Annie, Mary Beth, and Marilyn for the Limo tour;
Amy, Aiko, and Kumiko for the Night Of The Soiled Doves; Mindy for
golf; Ginger for Theater Night; Sarah and JoAnn for the Art Tour;
Diane and Britney for the Boat Tour; and Jamie Renae for the
English High Tea. These (among several others) are the people who
make DLV possible for all of us!

who are members of this list. Use the appropriate URL below to

If the above URLs are not clickable in your mailer, you can either
cut-paste or carefully type the appropriate URL into your
browser's "Location" field.
. . .

A few notes on registration:

1. The automated registration process saves us an awful lot of work.
We appreciate everyone's cooperation. If, during registration,
anything does not work as expected, let us know. If things continue
to be troublesome for you, we can register you manually if it is
necessary. The important thing is to let us know, as soon as is
posisble, if you have any difficulty.

2. This may seem obvious, but each year it's subject to some
misunderstanding. If you wish to participate in DLV 2009, you
will need to register using one of the methods described above.
We will not be admitting unannounced "walk-ins" to our activities.
Joining the mailing list, joining the Yahoo group, or even
sending a note "I will be there" will not be adequate. Your
cooperation with the registration process is appreciated.

3. Couples only need to register once. Both individuals are
covered on the one registration. See the notes on the registration
screen for further info.

4. Very important. When you register, you should receive either
a validation e-mail or a confirmation e-mail very shortly. IN
THE EVENT YOU RECEIVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AFTER YOU REGISTER,
SOMETHING IS WRONG AND WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT. Sorry
to shout, but each year we have to deal with this 1-2 times.

Big Sister Program:

If you're new and a bit uneasy about attending and appearing in
public, here's how we can help.

It's natural to be nervous before heading to an event such as
Diva Las Vegas, particularly if you've never been out before or
if you're new and don't know any of the others yet.

Big Sisters are volunteer DLV veterans who are standing by to
help as needed, either prior to DLV, or during DLV.

Big Sisters are intended mainly for those who are new and don't
have much public exposure, or those who may be feeling a bit
uneasy about the upcoming trip, but Big Sisters are available
to anybody who wants one.

If you haven't been out in public at all, if you're new to public
exposure, your exposure has never been in the mainstream before,
or if there's any reason you feel uneasy or uncertain about the
upcoming trip, the Big Sisters are here to help, either before
DLV, during DLV, or both.

Before DLV, if you would like to correspond with somebody
one-to-one about concerns regarding DLV, just send a brief
note to bigsister@geekbabe.com and say that you would like
to get in touch with a Big Sister. Examples of concerns might
be questions that you don't feel comfortable asking on one of
the mailing lists, request for an honest fashion critique,
etc.

If you are uneasy and can't get the nerve to walk out of your
hotel room (this has happened), phone us, we'll have a Big
Sister meet you, assure you, and escort you if necessary.

If you're new and don't know any of the others at DLV, the Big
Sisters will gladly introduce you to the others and help you
get acquainted.

If you would like to be put in touch with a Big Sister, just
send a note to bigsister@geekbabe.com and we'll get you in
contact with one.

Also, if you have attended DLV in the past and would like to
volunteer to spend some time helping others, please say so and
volunteer to be a Big Sister. (Just reply to this mailing or
e-mail bigsister@geekbabe.com and state you would like to
volunteer to be a Big Sister.) The primary qualification is
the desire to help others.

You can also sign up to have a Big Sister, or volunteer to be a
Big Sister on the web as you register.

If you have any questions or concerns about any aspect of the
Big Sister program, Nora, our Big Sister Coordinator, invites
you to contact her directly at: cadnild@aol.com

Big thanks to Nora for coordinating our Big Sister Program!
