Karaoke and such (was Re: Vegas, this week(end)?)

Well, we were talked out of our Vegas vacation and to Florida and back
instead, only to end up in another collision (rear-ended by a U-Haul, of
all things) with only 100 miles to go to get home.

We went to Vegas after that, and I developed medical problems from the
accident, so we had to cut the trip short. I did win $700 on video
poker, and had a very nice $360 dinner and bottle of Bordeaux at the
Strat tower restaurant. It must have been good wine! It seemed like the
room was spinning, and people were jumping off of the roof. (They were,
actually) :) Don't know if I would recommend it as a DLV activity or
not, because of the cost!

We will try once more to have a vacation in Vegas soon, and maybe we can
coordinate with some of you, but right now we have to go out and make
some money.

Please keep me posted on any news about karaoke in Vegas. I am a total
karaoke addict, and I'm always looking for new places to sing. That's
why I want to host, or co-host karaoke for n! ext year's DLV. I make my
own CD+G media, so I can guarantee that I will do some stuff you've
never heard before. :)

When were you in Las Vegas?

I just got back, being there on business for a while.

The big problem was that it was really too hot to do much of
anything! I was thinking of visiting the Charles Bar last
Saturday, but it was actually sticky as well as hot and I
really didn't feel like the walk over there so I just spent
the time in the casinos on the east side of the Strip.

We've had groups do this. Not that many wanted to spend that
much, but those who did looked like they had a good time
from the photos.

We did have a larger group go to the Level 107 Lounge this
year and that seemed to work out well.

As I (think I) said, the Beauty Bar downtown had karaoke on
the Monday we were there. It's a "very nice dive" bar. :)

I don't know how receptive they would be WRT you bringing your
own CDs, but I do know many karaoke bars allow that. I even
remember Tina carrying around a case of CDs once at Pinkfest.

We also had karaoke at the Escape Lounge, and I believe the
karaoke machine belonged to Mindy, and you might be able to
talk her into bringing it again for 2011. :)

We were in Vegas just about the end of June, but we only stayed two or
three days. I was drunk one day, in the emergency room the next, then I
was on Percocet, and I just barely remember the ride back.

Not to say that I don't traditionally spend DLV in a similar state of
intoxication...but I usually have more interesting times to remember. We
didn't stray much from the Stratosphere.

We still owe ourselves a good trip to Vegas, so we'll be going back,
maybe after it cools off a bit.
