What did you do during the daytime?

As the after action report is compiled and we begin planning for next
year I have a few questions. What did you do during the daytime while
at DLV? There were a variety of activities planned and there were 8 -
12 at several of these. Were they the same girls at each one or did we
see 30 or 40 different DLVers out and about at planned daytime
activities? If you didn't go to the planned activities, did you go out
at all? If you did go out, was it in boy mode or girl mode? If you
didn't leave the room, what would it take to get you out or do you just
need the down time?

I did one DLV daytime activity in boy mode, just because I couldn't get
ready in time to join the group. I went out boy mode one more time to
run some errands and find a free wi-fi spot and I dressed a few times in
the day, twice for DLV functions and once to meet a couple of other DLV
attendees for breakfast before leaving town.

I guess another question could be asked as well. Do you feel like you
have to use your time at DLV as girl time only? I know it's a great
opportunity and understand the need to use this special time to the
fullest. However, if the prep time or return to the room and re-do time
are too demanding, how many would be willing to attend activities in boy
mode?

I made it out to a few events during the day but really didn't make it
out of my room untill noonish most days. My liver was sleeping in. :) I
went girlmode all week this year. Last year I went half and half
girl/boy mode. I know me and my roomie got out and did things when we
missed day activities.

Daytime for me at DLV has mostly been "Down Time", but this
year I vowed to be sure to make Lunch With {whoever} as much
as possible, and I did 3 out of the 5 times. I also made 2
of the 4 Open Houses, plus the Bare Escentuals on Monday.

I find it more relaxing to have daytime as unstructured as
it can be. I found myself playing in the casinos during the
day, enjoying a few adult beverages on occasion, taking
photos, people-watching, etc. I really did not do much in
the way of shopping, due to the fact that my bag was
already quite full.

I tried to take a power nap in the afternoon, as the evenings
are often very intense and run late.

As to some specifics, I went with JoAnn and Vivian on
Wednesday to do some Limo Tour business, I ended up shopping
in FSM with Ginger and Kay on Monday, and saw a few other
dlvers there. Ginger, Kay and I went to that exclusive boutique
called "Target'" (properly pronounced with a faux accent aigu)
where I went off to score a roll of numbered tickets for the
raffle, and Ginger and Kay came back with a whole cart-load
of various stuff. :)

On Thursday morning, my main priority was sleeping off the
Charles Bar (LOL!) and I remember it being VERY COLD once
I did come back to life. :)

On Friday, one of the attendees wanted a one-on-one chat,
so we met at the Flamingo.

I did run in to various other DLVers at times. I ran into
Nora a couple times playing in the Sahara (a long way from
Phoenix, huh?), Mardi at the Flamingo once, and others
whose names I can't recall at Bally's and IP and a few
other places.

That's about it. Not very exciting, huh? :)

As far as suggestions for daytime activities, one thing I
do miss are the side trips, Valley Of Fire, Death Valley,
Rhyolite, etc. Those were always fun.

I spent my days resting after tues golf. Not from lack of interest but
due to a cronic health issue which makes it necessary to spend a fairly
large amount of downtime. It's the same reason I sadly missed the after
dinner activities on Friday. But it was great to be there anyway.

I went shopping most day's : The Forum at Caesar's,The fashion mall and
the Las Vegas outlet centre. I also toured the Titanic exhibition.

The morning routine always takes a little longer than I'd like but it is
getting easier. There were all the usual suspects to take care of:
getting my face smooth, working some moisture into my skin, creating a
nice smooth base with mineral foundation and putting together subtle but
effective eye shadow, getting a little color on my cheeks but blending
it well to keep the look from getting too artificial. Lip liner and
gloss because lipstick is just too much for the daytime look I was
crafting. Hair smoother to keep heat from damaging my hair while drying
and styling it, and a light touch of styling creme to give it a little
texture and hold. Some of my favorite earrings to add a little sparkle,
and an outfit that has enough of my style to make me smile every time I
walk by a mirror, but nothing that would look out of place - age and
venue appropriate, as the saying goes.

Then it was time to head to work. Sigh. It was already Wednesday and
my flight wasn't until that evening, so I had a day at the office before
I'd be on my way for my third and shortest Diva Las Vegas. It's hard to
believe that two years earlier I was taking my inner woman for her first
steps in public, and now I'm proudly out for all to see each and every
day. So that's what I was up to Sunday through Wednesday, living my
every day life. Wednesday night I finally checked in to the Paris
around midnight with my wife, and we headed out to grab a bite to each
before the Charles Bar gathering at 2am.

Despite getting to sleep around 5am I was up, prepped and ready to go in
time for lunch with Ginger on Thursday. After lunch I spent a few hours
at the Shops at Ceaser's Forum, making lunch reservations for the next
day, and previewing the route I'd take for the "shop off your lunch"
excursion. I was delighted to have one of the sales assistants gushing
over my sweater, which my wife knitted by hand. Early that evening we
didn't see any of the Diva gang as we were off doing our own thing for
dinner and a show, but we did connect with everyone at the Paris for
dancing and I stayed up talking with friends old and new until heading
for bed and finally drifting off around 3am.

Once again, getting up and ready for lunch was about all I could manage,
but we were at Sushi Roku a few minutes early so that I could greet the
first of the people who had signed up for lunch. Sara and her friend
Kimberly arrived before long and we were seated to await the others. We
were eventually joined by Nicole and Dayna and the six of us had a
wonderful lunch together. Sure, fifteen had signed up but by Friday
it's hard to get up in time for lunch! Dayna joined my wife and I for
the shopping excursion and we had a grand time with wonderful finds for
each of us with lots of "try this on!" discoveries for one another.
>From there it was time to head back to our respective hotels to take a
brief break and get ready for the Bahama Breeze final dinner. And then
to the rather sizable gathering at the Paris for our final event of the
trip, this time with a live band to dance to. I was sorry to have it
wrap up so soon, but delighted to have made a few new connections and
spend time with friends I don't see nearly often enough.
