Shooting activity

Hi all,

Was interested in the target shooting activity and hope
someone can tell me more about that. Questions like,

Pistol? Rifle? Shotgun. Regular bench type bullseye or more active
shooting type available? Which range will it be at? Distances available
for rifle?

When I play a boy I am a professional shootist. And lately it has
NOT been worth the trouble to pack my guns on the airlines. The
requirements are just stupid* and the hassle makes it even MORE .
<sarcasm> fun.</sarcasm> to go through an already incredible
stressful process. Howeve, as a side note, TSA at Las Vegas treated
me like royalty, no queen jokes please, when my ID said boy and the
clothing said otherwise, they didnt even miss a beat "Place your
boots and purse on the belt and have a nice day Mrs Rilea" I was
terrified if the truth be known but I forgot to pack boy clothing
and forgot I had to escort my son all the way to the gate. Sheeesh.
Stupid move that turned out a-ok for me after all (Thanks Creator -
you rock). It might be mentioned in this state (NV) you cannot
change your gender marker unless you have had SRS so since these
are local people (TSA) I am sure they understand the transition
process isnt an overnight thing. I wouldnt want to try that is my
sons home state of Tennesee. Probably get hung from a tree by a
bunch of guys in white robes and pointy heads, err hats.

Dana, Honey, here in NV as long as you are not in a congested
area (it will be marked by white and black signs clearly) you
are welcome to shoot to your hearts content. If you wish live
targets you are welcome to shoot all the rabbit and coyote you
wish without a hunting license. A hint, do NOT eat the rabbits -
we have a fever here that rabbits carry that humans can catch.

If you have a gun dealer at home you trust I would have them ship
your guns to another dealer in NV and avoid the airlines totally.
Of course, if your driving, no big deal, when in NV make sure
your weapon is either in your trunk or easily visible. I usually
keep mine on my hip and place both hands on the top of the
steering wheel. A lot of folks place their weapons in cases
and let them ride with the rest of the luggage, out of sight
out of mind.

Hope to see you there ! I will not be packing - I shoot every
doggone day during the season and am not interested in working
while I am supposed to be vacationing - shopping here I come,
Burburry, Anne Klein, Christian Louboutin, Starbucks, a girl has
to keep nourished, right ?....oh yeah, thats what I am talking about.

*Dont bother lecturing me on 9/11-I have known about terrorism a
lot longer than just that one event. Munich 1972 comes to mind.

I'm a native and life-long Tennessee resident. A person born in
Tennessee can never change the gender designation on his or her birth
certificate. Sometimes gender designations do get changed on drivers'
license, although that seems to be due to chance and clerks assuming a
mistake previously occurred.

I frequently fly in and out of the Nashville airport and have never had
any problems with the TSA agents or others who have always been totally
professional. The key is having a ticket made out exactly in the name
and gender reflected on the accompanying official government issued ID,
i.e., driver's license or passport. Unlike schools, airlines and most
other public accommodations don't have dress codes that prohibit a
"male" from presenting as what might be considered "female." Regardless,
t-girls traveling in Tennessee should likely avoid red-neck bars and
such other establishments because a few of their customers may be less
than professional and not so accommodating.

Last time I flew, I had just cleared the security check-point when my
"official name" was called to return to the airline's main ticket
counter. Someone had left an item there and the clerk thought it was me,
it wasn't, but I got to make two trips through the security check and
both were non-events.

Ok, great information on hunting, traveling and hot TN. girls but was
really hoping to hear whether we will be shooting off a bench, bullseye
type shooting or can we do more IPSC type shooting? What distance the
range has for rifle shooting. I am refering to the shooting session on
Friday morning list of days events for the DLV week. Is there a person
that hosts this or do we just show up to the range?

Hi Dana,

I don't have a plan yet, been a little crazy, more details coming. Last
year we did it at a range just off the strip. I'd like to go to Desert
Lakes, but it's a long way. I'll figure it out soon.

ok.....crazy ideas entering my brain....for Gina or those that
will be participating... - if there are enough of those already
experienced in such in male mode, and has or can get and
bring such equipment needed... this event can change into
something more interesting to DLV attendees by doing a
twist on some options if the right knowledgeable people can
lead this:

A. Just a get together to shoot paper/metal targets at a outdoor
or indoor range as before.

B. IPSC, find a decent pistol range with the correct equipment,
and have (similar to golf) the first ever trangendered
or cross dressed IPSCcompetition? Would the boobs, padding
or wig slow one's timing or get in the way?

C. Single action shootists, have the first Transgendered or
Cross Dress Cowgirl (Cowboy type) Action Shooting,
but in this case, the first ever costumed crossdressed in
wild west female clothes, like a cowgirl, saloon girl, female
gambler, victorian wife, or even american indian western tribes
squaw, complete with a required registered female 'alias' name.

I've never been too or took part in such competitions but
the idea sounds like it could be fun.

Sorry to be a B-word but please do not use the word "squaw". It has
really negative connotations. Pretty much the same as using the word
"Whore" for any woman. Completely unacceptable.

Competing in single-action shooting can be grueling. It means using a
weapon that was designed for close proximity use (less than 20 feet
optimally) at greater distances and under a time constraint. I use a SAA
Colt weapon (two of them actually) on a daily basis during the season
but fortunately I don't have to compete with it. The shooter who can use
an SAA accurate and quickly is quite the shootist.

Other than that if I was going to bring my sidearms I would love to
participate but all my old west gear is for my evil twin brother. And
his surly butt is staying home...:)
