LV hotel rates for DLV

Hi everyone. I don't know if you have been getting the ridiculously low
room rate offers from the various Vegas hotels but I have. I can forward
you the email from the MGM, Bellagio and TI if you like. The MGM is
$55/night except for Friday and Saturday at $139/night. The TI varies
depending on how far out you book but if you book 90 days out the total
cost for 6 nights was $472. The Bellagio is $139 per night except for
Friday and Sat at $270 per night.

I hope this helps some of the girls deciding on where to stay.

Cathy B.

Art Tour

I am considering moving the Art Tour to Tuesday. I'd like to hear if
this would cause anyone problems. Part of the reason is a need to shift
the both the sessions a little later: Morning Session to start at 10:30
and the afternoon to start at 2:30 or 3:00. The later start in the
afternoon would allow folks to linger at lunch and not have to rush out
to cross town. Moving it to Tuesday would allow us to take our time and
not have to rush through the afternoon session to get dolled up for a
show and/or the Limo tour.

I would offer a visit to a thrift store or two on Wednesday morning to
fill in that newly vacant blank on the schedule if there is any interest
in that kind of activity.

Our long-time favorite, the Las Vegas Art Museum, looks like it will be
in between shows during DLV this year, so I'm planning on substituting
the Atomic Testing Museum for the morning session. It's not art, but it
looks very interesting and not expensive at all. There will be a
contemporary show with Modern paintings by Lichenstein and Warhol at the
Bellagio for the afternoon. As always, S.O.s are more than welcome to
join in.

Hi Sarah, I live in Las Vegas and would like to help with the art tour
if I could, the tour was alot of fun last year. There are many art
museums and galleries in town. I like to visit the galleries at the
hotels when I,m on the strip, which I do about every weekend. Would a
lunch in between the two museums be fun for the tour group? Marisa

Hi Marisa,

I'd love to have more folks involved, particularly those familiar with the
area. We have tried a couple of times to get lost on our way to the venues
and had it not been for local girls and blind luck, we may have succeeded.

Welcome aboard!

I'm always open to suggestions, so feel free to drop me a note, or a
paragraph; I love the mail.

Hi,

How about a art tour lunch at theartisanhotel.com, it's like a art
museum in a hotel. Glamour Boutique takes makeover clientes there
on a regular basis.

They have valet parking only.

See ya in May,

Marisa

I've been to the artisan a few times, both to the bar and the
restaurant. It's a really good place to eat and drink, and to hang
out. I'd like to see the artisan featured at least once during dlv.

All the best, a.j. here in cool lv.

I have not been to the Artisan but now we have a couple of suggestions
that it should be part of the tour. I looked at the hotel web page and
it looks very nice. Can anyone tell me how much of the artwork is
original? In one photo I saw a reproduction of the Mona Lisa, but their
homepage gives the impression that there are orginal classics in their
collection.

If we continue doing formal gallery and museum visits in the morning and
afternoon, this might be a good place to meet and eat between the
morning and afternoon sessions of the tour.

Sarah--

Marisa and Nora's suggestion to make the Artisan the "lunch stop" might
be the event to hold the group together for the morning and afternoon
venues.

Going to the Artisan is an excellent idea. The hotel lobby is crammed
with artwork from the floors to the ceilings. It is an experience to
go there and look around. The Artisan is probably the best kept secret
in Las Vegas. I have been there a number of times. The food is
excellent but first check to make sure that it is open for lunch.

I very much doubt if most of it is original but there may be a few
pieces that are.

Good Idea Marisa.

It works for me.

Can we get local confirmation to see if they will be open for lunch?
This would be something we haven't had in the past. It would also be a
good place to meet with those who can't quite make it for the morning
session but would like to visit the afternoon venue.
