A lot of the questions that I got last year concerned being able to
bring electric instruments or drums.

People did attend. But there were only 3 musicians. If there is
interest, I will try to find a venue that will accomodate electric. I
would encourage interested people to contact me. It could grow into a
more organized show where people show up and do a few numbers.

Provided that I can actually make it there next year, I would enjoy
doing some vocals. I can bring my own equipment, electricity and all.
What kind of music do you play? I've been dying for a chance to sing
"Kashmire".

Smaller ones draw less than 100 watts from the wall socket.

Larger ones can draw several hundred watts, but all except the
very largest can run comfortably on a regular 15 amp circuit.

It's my impression that Zodies didn't want amplifiers due to
the noise they would generate for that size venue and not due
to electrical load.

I have 3.2 kWH in the hearse with the engine off, which is why I said
that I could bring my own electricity. Of course, I still don't know
that I can be there, but if a few people have auxiliary power systems,
which are becoming more popular, we could do an outdoor event. Just
make sure that you have your inverters on isolated batteries so that
we're not running around with jumper cables afterward.

I can understand any bar not wanting an amateur band to come in. Your
best shot is daytime hours. A friend and I took our amps and guitars
into a bar once, without asking permission, and started playing. We
stunk on ice. The bartender told us to get the equipment out of there,
and don't ever bring it back in again. :)

In the past 2 years there have been questions about having a plugged in
session. If there is any interest out there, let me know. I'll try to
find a suitable place. I have an acoustic that can be plugged in. But I
don't have a sound system and have little experience at using one.
Anybody out there who can help? I'd like to have more of an open mike
format. Anybody willing to do a few songs?

i can probably borrow a simple, but effective PA set (2 speakers,
amp/mixer, up to 4 mics -- it has been used successfully on a number of
different gigs & should be ok for anywhere i can imagine we might do
this). depending on how all this might work out, perhaps we could "go
electric" (i did with the bass last year, anyway) & use small "practice"
amps (i,e, 10-15 watts), which most guitarists may have anyway.
(besides, even if the knob goes to "11," it doesn't have to; you can
t-u-r-n--i-t--d-o-w-n.) this proposed "jam session" has potential to be
a great "activity." (& something else we can do on our roller skates :
)
