Jenifer,

By the way you express yourself, and by what you say, I feel you are
the type of person DLV is all about, and I'm sure you would fit in
quite nicely with the rest of us, and add lots to the positive
experience that the majority of attendees rave about each year.

Sorry my first post is a rant...

After being referred to DLV by a friend, it was too late for me to go to
the 2008 event. Now watching these posts, I'm not sure I'd want to. I'm
not a prude, far from it. I've been known to be more than provocative in
private, with emphasis on private.

The common thread that's been stated is COMMON sense should be
everyone's guide. Since there is also topic on young vs. old
demographics, with the scale tipping to older, then those present you'd
think would have the required common sense to be aware of others
feelings. The CD's I know are predominately submissive types that go out
of their way to keep a low profile and enjoy themselves in public
without causing attention/distraction. How or why that has to be
debated, I'll never know. Use of the ladies or provocative dress in
public screams disrespect for the entire community, not just against the
TG/TV/CD Community. So this group has rules...so does any fraterni

I can assure you that 99% of the DLV attendees are some of the
finest people in the known universe! They are outgoing and
fun-loving. The jerk level is exceptionally low.

It's just that the jerks get far more than their fair share of
attention, sometimes.

Jenifer,

We are all about discretion in our activities and what happens in
private is of no concern to others and especially us. Unfortunately,
there are few people whose irresponsible behavior turns them into an
offensive or at best strangely curious caricature.

If you notice the problems under discussion all involve less than
discreet dress and behavior by a few people seeking to draw public
attention to themselves in irresponsible ways. The reaction of the
general public to this dress and behavior can range from amusement to
offense, but seldom approval. The incredible thing is these people
always seem to confuse curiosity and amusement with approval and often
report how well they were received by the public who gave them
complimentary remarks and attention.

They are unaware of, or don't care about, the damage they are doing with
the straight public which now has confirmation that "people like that"
are disgusting, crazy, obscene or whatever. This is not good for the TG
community and especially those who have transitioned or who are in
transition to living full-time. Perhaps a few of us can really pass, but
most of us have to hope for acceptance and the indiscreet behavior of
others is very counter productive to this.

Most of us who attend DLV are seeking acceptance and our rules are
designed to discourage selfish behavior that can bring repercussions on
our kind. From your comments you appear to be with us on this and we
welcome you next year!

Hello Jenifer,

All of us that attend DLV attend with different
expectations.

I am similar to you, a cd that wants a very low
profile, and enjoys going in public with the least
amt of attention, quite private, and I try to
do my best to be passable. The words
like 'stealth' or 'invisible' has been used.

But this way of behavior isn't exclusive, and there
are others that think differently.

That is why DLV has various 'tracks' or different
venues or events during the same time. One
chooses which event they feel they would enjoy
the most, within their 'comfort' zone.

There are those that prefer to dress exotically or
in club wear to go to night clubs and dancing.

There are those that want events to dress up in
gowns or glitzy semi-formal to formal outfits, and
would like a event to be able to do so. Or those
that want to dress like a model down a runway.

Some may also be 'goth' and 'rave' that are cders
too, and would like to explore the LV 'underground'.

Some like to listen to jazz, or play an instrument
in a band in a public bar.

Some would gather at a bar in a casino, a place
to have a nice drink, and be able to socialize with
other attendees.

DLV trys to meet everyone's idea of a
'vacation' by having events that cover the
range of what the attendee's want to do, but
within certain limits, set by our guidelines designed
for the safety and enjoyment of all events by
the attendees, and to also protect the locals that
have to still be able to use the various venues after
DLV.

The mainstream casino show, and Limo tour for
example gives those that want to dress up a bit more
formal, and for photo ops at several casinos. Part of
that would be a time that mingles with the public,
and yes, it will draw a crowd. For those that attend the
limo tour, that is what they want to do.

But if one just wants to just ride the limo and be
more private, and not participate in the more public
exhibition of th photo shoots, one can be in the
background walking around but away from the rest
of the group, or stay in the limo. I've also done
both in the past.

Going to night clubs and dancing late night also
is for those that want to do just that.

One night one can dress as 'slutty' as you want and
attend a private party with the 'working' girls at the
well known brothal chicken ranch.

There are some that like to go to art museums, and
boat tours, and high tea at a five star casino and
restaurant, or go shopping.

If a type of activity isn't what you want to do,
there would have something else that evening
that you could attend.

Also, if there isn't, we are always looking for help
to plan events. If you want to do something that
isn't listed, feel free to become a volunteer organizer
of such a event. There will probably be other who
share your thinking that would help or attend your
event.

Like any event, there are problems that have to be
dealt with and resolved. This is what this
discussion group is all about, a forum to hear
peoples thoughts and opinions and ideas. Because of
this, this forum will discuss things that can be difficult
and complex.
