DLV Biggest Loser Contest

Hi Ladies,

First of all it was a great pleasure seeing all of you. As always
that was the one of the most fun times of my whole year.

One thing I noticed this year and I was the prime example that our
collective girths have increased. Some I have to admit were just plain
gorgeous. (I hate you!!! J) I'd like to propose a support network and
contest to possibly motivate ourselves to reduce weight and get back
into all of those clothes that no longer fit.

For me the mutual support of like minded friends might be all of the
motivation I need. Getting more fit is important to me, I've gotten to
the age when all that evil stuff cholesterol, fat, etc. starts causing a
bunch of trouble. I don't want a heart attack, nor do I wish to any of
my friends to have such a problem. I've had a continual problem with
weight my whole life and its time to beat it.

Any ideas?

I was thinking an online starting weigh in (based on honesty) and then a
weigh in at DLV next year and a victory dinner (or drink) for all the
winners (losers).

Just thinking, (Danger, Danger)

Love you all,

Gina

Hi Gina!

I love this idea. I'm afraid of stepping on the scale. I know I've grown
horizontally since the notch on my belt isn't the same notch before I left
for DLV. I was trying to convince myself that my trousers shrank in the wash.

LV and the places DLV eats at... from EONs, lunches, snacks, the
food at all of the places have been very good, and also very good drinks
especially the ones made at the Charles Bar.

hmmm... I guess the winner getting a free dinner at the Bellagio Dinner
buffet, Cheesecake Factory, or Macaroni's may be a bad idea, but all of
them have excellent salads....and desserts.

An idea would be to set up some sort of email group like this [disc] group and
we can post our gains or loss - or a more complicated idea, somehow
have the values posted on a dlv web page. The results can also be added
to the general email that goes out periodically.

It would be good motivation for me and a very good friendly competition.

Also if someone trying to lose needs help, we can share our ideas on what
to do to lose.

Welcome to the greatest losers,

So far

Kumiko
Gina

My starting weight with all girl parts in place is 272 lbs. (disgusting)

I've started as of yesterday, I've been drinking a Costco "Slim-Fast"
can for breakfast and lunch (sometimes with a small salad) and eating a
pretty normal but smaller portion dinner. (My wife doesn't need the
extreme loss I do.) I started my treadmill again this morning, starting
with a moderate walking pace of 3.0 mph for 30 minutes. I'm planning on
doing that at least three times a week. I've also started working
around the house a lot more, I've been pretty lazy for the last couple
of years. Drinking lots and lots of water is helpful for feeling full,
(the bathroom trips go way up!). I tend to keep some Wheatthins or
Cheez-its around for a snack if necessary. (Just don't eat more than ten
or so.) Both of these used to be my favorite foods when flying the
airplane, so I've got to get used to not eating them by the handful.

I'm not a goal setting type of person when it comes to weight, I'm
planning on a trying to lose at a reasonable rate so I can get used to
eating less.

My "ideal" weight is about 180 (oh ya right), I've gotten down to 200
before and it felt great, I was a lot healthier and active.

For those of you in the more progressive metric system based countries a
kilogram is 2.204... US pounds or a US pound is 0.4535... kg.

More later.

I weighed 280 for a long time, but I went down to 160 a year ago, and I'm
much happier. Just be careful what you say in chat rooms...I was just
chatting with someone who had gained a hundred pounds, I made a silly,
sarcastic comment about how I could starve myself to death eating pop-tarts
now if I wanted to, and got thrown into a mental hospital for a week for
trying to commit suicide. I just happened to be talking to an extremely
paranoid person who didn't know me very well, she called the police, and
they came and threw me in handcuffs. And thanks to those police, who
promised to have me back in 2-3 hours, a teenager now has my 9 mm Ruger
loaded with 16 +P+ hydrashocks, my 15-year-old spent a week without proper
supervision, I had to reformat my laptop because there was so much spyware
that it wouldn't run, and I found an open condom wrapper on the floor...just
what you want to see after a bunch of FOOLS have locked you up for a week
for doing nothing more than making a facetious remark. That's what I walked
in on after the $30 cab ride home.

That's why I had to miss DLV this year, and I would say that if there was
a big loser, it was me.

Okay girls, count me in.

I too need to drop some pounds. I looked at some of the photos Dennis
took and "geez Louise" I look like a fat stuffed enchilada in some of
the dresses I was wearing. I just weighed myself (fully clothed and
about an hour after eating dinner) and I tipped the scales at 204 lbs.

So I definitely will start on some kind of plan quickly. So we'll see
next year who is the biggest loser.

Hugs,

Rosada

Hi Densie,

Wow, what a terrible thing to happen. I hope it all works out. That wasn't
what I was referring too as the biggest loser, but the weight loss is
amazing. Please come and see us again.

Love,

Gina

Rosada,

Welcome to the greatest losers,

So far we have and their starting weights:

Kumiko
Gina - 272 (oh my gawd!)
Rosada - 204

I've dropped about 2 lbs, so far (hopeful thinking) I think I may need a
better scale.

More later.

Love,

Gina

Ok... my turn to weigh in... I'm at a even 200.

My goal is 160 - which according to that medical
scale based on height and weight, would just under
that weight for my height.

The other 'ideal' balance is the inches around the
waist. Its supposed to be half your height. Mine
is a 33in waist, and I'm up to 36-38....which for
me is close to losing 40 pds, which confirms the
160pd goal.

It has to be a life-style change for the weight loss
to stick. It means reduced portions, and a religious
reduction on carbos or sugars...which means less
starches like potatos, rice, pastas, corn, wheat....

It has to done without too much exercise, for
increasing muscle size due to exercise, doesn't give
one the fem figure in the shoulder and leg area.
I'll start with walking for 30min a day.

I'm getting back to schedule of just eating salads
for 3 days, and then eat regular meals the other
4 days. I'll eventually increase the salad days to
4 or 5 days, leaving 2 to 3 days for regular food.
I can mix the 3 salad days.

This should prevent any cravings for certain foods
and allows for eating out with friends on weekends
and not worrying about the diet so much.

My weakness is rice, pastas, and desserts...esp
the cheesecakes, and ice cream. Add to that any
star bucks fraps, and jamba juice drinks, and
the Bud Ice beer.

I was looking at the infomercial for this electrical
mid-section device that stimulates the abdominals and
gives a flat tummy area. It supposed to be like
doing push ups and sit-ups, but done electronically.

I think the current version is called "The Contour"

Has anyone tried this?

I'm more concerned on any lingering bad side effects
or damage it can cause to internal organs or skin with
regular use.
