That was me, and it wasn't really crowded. I think there were
six of us in there total, and I was the only DLVer. It was very
late Friday night. There was some kind of a glitch which caused
all of the elevators in the bank to stall, but the one I was on
did not restart and was stuck between floors 1 and 2.
We were stuck for about an hour, since the hotel maintenance
people were unable to get it going, so they had to phone the
elevator service's emergency number and get a crew out to get
us out. The lights were still on, and nobody got histerical or
anything. One lady was obviously uncomfortable and suffering
from claustrophobia, but remained more or less calm. One guy
just laid down on the floor and slept. The rest of us made
small-talk.
There were a few somewhat amusing things. Every so often the
security desk would call up on the squawk box asking if we were
ok and updating us on what was happening. She would always ask
"Are you still there?" as if we were able to go elsewhere! :)
I had a big sign "Ask me about Showgirls Of Magic tickets"
clipped to my shirt, and yes, some of the others asked me
about Showgirls Of Magic and I told them all about it. I
said I was with a group out here and I was the one selling
the tickets to the group. :) No, I didn't sell any that
night. :) LOL, I actually could have given them a discount! :)
One couple was from Chicago, and of course I said I had
relatives there and went there semi-frequently for both
business and pleasure. They seemed impressed when I pulled
a CTA Transit Card out of my purse. :)
All of a sudden there was a clunk and the elevator moved
very slowly to the second floor. Maintenance and security
were there, with an EMT for the lady who wasn't feeling
well. The security guy took our room numbers and said he
would turn them in to the desk and they would comp us the
night for the hassle. (All except the one poor schlub who
wasn't staying there.) :) He said that if we wanted to, we
could stop by security and file an incident report, but it
was not really necessary.
No, nobody appeared to have to take a bio break very badly
during the hour or so. :)
