As Densie said.........COMFORTABLE SHOES!!!!!!

I don't think this could be stressed enough so as not to ruin you
vacation early on. And yes, hotels do appear closer than they
actually are and getting to the front door is only about 25% of
the walk at the bigger places.

So far as having a Security issue in the hotel you are staying
at......... dunno. Anybody have a report on this? I expect they
would try and make some arrangements for you or ask you to use
your room bathroom as much as possible. Several years ago didn't
we have a designated bathroom at the Boardwalk? I think it was
on the second level IIRC. Maybe Mindy remembers. I do recall
the one at the San Remo which seemed to work out OK.

If things get critical and you can't bring yourself to use the
ladies room then I would recommend identifying yourself to Security
and ask to use the men's room. If it's not too crowded I'm sure
they'll hold people out for you for a few moments while you do your
business and you won't have the yahoos in there to deal with.
I have seen that done a few times in CD situations. Or, the CD
just went on in, did their stuff and left.

Thinking back to when I first started out I had the mindset
that hell, I'll never see these people again and if I'm in
boymode they probably won't recognize me anyway. No worries.
I've seen the manliest of girls walk thru the casino with
hardly a look. And, I don't think we ever had an episode of
someone getting punched out because they were read in public.
Just stay away from the kiddie places because the parents might
get over-protective and make a scene.

I've told this story at several Divas so here it is again for
the newer girls. I was playing VP at Bally's several years ago
and had to go to the bathroom after a long (and winning) session.
As I headed to the ladies room I noticed a Security Guard was
making his way over there and sure enough he decided to stand right
next to the door. Thinking I may have been read as I got there I
asked him if it was alright to use the ladies' room and he replied
"Of course Madam, we clean them regularly!"

Be confident, not apprehensive.

I'm gonna speak very freely here, as if I never do ...

>So far as having a Security issue in the hotel you are
>staying at......... dunno. you or ask you to use
>your room bathroom as much as possible.

IMAO, if you're in a hotel where you have a room, it's probably
best to always use the facilities in your room unless there is
some compelling reason not to.

>Several years ago didn't we have a designated bathroom at the
>Boardwalk?

Yes, some say we did, and a misunderstanding about this totally
f*cked up the vacation of a good friend of mine! :( IMAO, their
security was totally out of line, and they owed her an apology,
which never came! :(

This is the only restroom incident I'm aware of where I don't
think our people were at fault.

>I do recall the one at the San Remo which seemed to work out OK.

Well, it was kind of a compromise.

The very first year, at the San Remo, the year we checked out
the show as a smaller group with the intent of using it the
next year, the one assistant manager went as far as to volunteer
to check the public ladies room "in case some of your people
would be more comfortable that way" to be sure it wasn't crowded
and such.

The next year we had an incident the evening before DLV started
where we had somebody attract a lot of attention on the casino
floor and then blatantly march right into the public ladies room.

Following this, the word was haphazardly passed that DLV people
were to use the employees' restroom. Some did, some did not.

As I get older and crankier, I'm becoming more and more of a
total b*tch about full and equal access to all facilities open to
the general public. If we accept any kind of special arrangements,
we're acknowledging that we are less worthy of full and equal
treatment.

IMAO, if they want our business, there will be no conditions!

Period!

Now, this is very much a two-way street, and it's up to us to use
facilities properly and to apply peer pressure (or some other
disincentives) when and where appropriate to those who reflect
poorly on DLV and the TG community as a whole by misusing facilities!

As you know, since 2003 we've been very serious about Behavior,
Dress, and Restroom guidelines, with consideration of others
being the driving force. We still, unfortunately, have some bad
restroom incidents occasionally.

The break between the show and the Limo Tour seems to be the one
time where incidents seem to occur. There was some off-line talk
a while back that we should get some of the senior volunteers to
stand by the ladies rooms outside the showroom and turn away
any groups of our people who attempt to enter. Whether or not
this will happen is yet to be seen, but I will not argue that it
is not necessary.

I don't think our people realize how embarrassing and how
devastating the restroom incidents can be! The thing is, they
don't have to happen if everybody uses a little consideration
and common sense.

On the Security/Restroom issue, can someone local call a few
casinos and ask what their policies are and let us know? I
understand that, among the big casinos, Paris is particularly
(GLB)T-friendly.

Amy,

I have used the women's restroom in the Paris numerous times. I have
never had a problem. I did discover that the one near the sports book
is seldom used. Seems it is mostly guys that populate that area, so
the women's rest room is mostly deserted!

Just a thought!

Hugs,
Tootsye

We've discussed this in the past and the consensus was
that it would be a Bad Thing for a number of reasons.

The main reason is that we know that few, if any,
casinos actually have a formal promulgated policy
which defines and addresses the issue.

The answer, therefore, will most likely be at the whim
of the person being asked. People such as security
officers and duty managers tend to be quite ignorant
of GLBT issues.

An alternative which has been suggested several times
is to seek out and send in so we can post on the Big
List, the exact locations of such things as unisex
restrooms, single-occupancy restrooms, and restrooms
in out of the way locations.

Thanks, Tootsye. I've noted this on the Big List.

Any other reports of out of the way restrooms or unisex restrooms for
the places on the Big List (http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/vendors/)
would be appreciated.

Another resource might be the following link. The name and premise
of the group still seem a little silly to me, but as we are
discussing, it IS an important concern!

http://www.safe2pee.org/beta/mapit.php?lat=36.174200&long=-115.135000&city=LAS%20VEGAS&state=NV

Looks like I won't be able to make it this year, but I'll continue to
lurk here just for future reference!

Hugs,
Cindy

Amy,

There are some questions that best go unasked.

Geekbabe's DLV big list of recommended places

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/guide.html and
http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/vendors/

is a good source of information on Las Vegas areas and places
that have been incident free and some that are or might be
problematic.

A note on links posted in Yahoo mail .... Yahoo often places
spaces in links posted as above so if these links don't work
look for spaces and remove them before you paste the links in
your browser.

Thank you.!

I saw that once, a long time ago when there really was not much
of a list. They have quite a few entries in Las Vegas now.

In fact, I'll update the Big List with those that are listed
on the link.

I know a few "out of the way" casino restrooms. they are:

Planet hollywood: upstairs on the mezzanine level in the lounge
area and also by the restaurants on the same level.

imperial palace: go through the casino & past the shopping
promenade and up the escalators twords the monorail exit.

flamingo:at the back of the casino and down the walkway past the
tropical breeze cafe and buffet area. the restrooms are located by the
exit.

there are also restrooms located in the convention/meeting room areas
(sometimes on the 2d or 3d floors) that may be good if there's no
convention taking place. anyone know a good restroom location at
bellagio?
