Don't you people ever answer your mail?

I've been trying to register for over a month now! What do I need to do?

>Don't you people ever answer your mail?

All mail should have been answered. If you sent in something
which clearly indicated that a response was requested and
didn't receive anything, it was most likely human error.
Please accept our apology.

Many of the questions which have come in latelty have been
answered with a note to please read the FAQ and/or the back
mailings, since almost all of the questions that are coming
in are answered already in some depth.

>I've been trying to register for over a month now! What do
>I need to do?

I don't see your name on the list of previous attendees, so I am
assuming you want to register as a newcomer. Registration for
newcomers who are on the mailing list (it appears that you are
on it) will open around February 1. This was covered in the
mailing that went out on January 4, and mentioned again in the
mailing on January 13. It will be covered in detail in the
next mailing which is scheduled to go out this coming weekend.

I hate to keep sounding like a broken record (stuck CD?), but
almost all of the questions that keep coming in are already
answered, in some depth, in the FAQ and/or the mailing list.

FAQ is on line here:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/faq/

Mailing list archives are on line here:

http://www.geekbabe.com/annie/dlv08arc/

Please use these, as they cover just about everything. Thanks.

Hi Annie,

I am a newcomer this year and have been following the emails. Sometimes
as a newcomer to anything we tend to want to rush through details and
get to it, so to speak...especially with something like this event!

What I wanted to say was I agree with you; all all of my questions have
been answered on the site and you did an excellent job of handling this
request without embarrassing the requester....nice work. I hope I get to
meet you if I'm brave enough to go through with it!!

Huggs,

"Gina"

Gina,

If your are apprehensive about coming to Diva, please
don't be. You will find a warm, caring friendly bunch
of girls that will make you comfortable and welcome.
Sometimes the nervousness of the new girls last, like,
oh five minutes after they get to their first
activity!

See you there!
Hugs,

Tootsye

Thanks, Gina. It's good to hear that. :) We appreciate it, and we do
realize that most people do take the time to read what DLV is all
about. Thanks for your feedback on this! :)

>I hope I get to meet you if I'm brave enough to go through with it!!

We understand that many people are unsure and nervous when first
coming to an event like this. DLV attracts a very good group of
people who are friendly and inclusive. It's almost universally
reported that the feelings of unease vanish within minutes of
meeting the group.

There are a number of things we can help with if you're feeling
unsure.

If you have any specific concerns, you can ask about them here,
or if you don't want to ask in public, write in and we'll put
you in touch, one on one, with one of our Big Sister volunteers.

If you need some personal guidance, we can match you up with a
Big Sister either before DLV and/or during DLV. Our Big Sister
Coordinator invites you to personally write her with any of
your concerns. Just e-mail: bigsister@geekbabe.com

When you get to Las Vegas, if you would feel better if you first
met one of the volunteers one on one before you go to one of the
larger gatherings, just let us know, we'll make this happen.

If you're uneasy leaving your hotel room to come to your first
DLV activity, or if you happen to get "stuck" in your vehicle
or something like that, let us know. Phone the "Big Sister
Emergency Hotline" (number will be sent out in the Large Final
Mailing) and we'll get a Big Sister to you pronto to assure
you and escort you if necessary.

We'll bend over backwards to be sure that you don't get left
out! Ask around, you'll find that we have a very good track
record with regard to helping those who are new feel
comfortable.

Hope to see you in April. Watch the soon-to-come-out mailing for
newcomer registration information. :)

In general, yes.

>What do I need to do to register?

If you want all three of you to be covered on one
registration, register you and your SO as usual, and
then write in with your daughter's name and say you
want that added to that registration. This has to be
done manually.

You'll also have to sign up for activities manually,
but this is not really a big deal.

>I know she won't be able to go some places,

About the only things a 15 year old won't be able to
do with the group would be the Bar Crawl (21 minimum)
and Night Of The Soiled Doves (18, IIRC) and possibly
a few others where age 21 or 18 is required.

Here's a question, and I read the FAQ and it's not in htere.

Our 15 year old daughter wants to come with us for the weekend. She
knows about Gene/Jean. Is this permitted? What do I need to do to
register? I know she won't be able to go some places, but that's fine.
My wife doesn't like to drink either so they can go do other things.

Please let me know before I register.
