I've never stayed there, but I've used the facilities there off and on
over the years without any trouble.

>but I think we make our luck with our presentation and behavior

I really think the key is to not rub the public's face into the fact.

Most all of the incidents I've been aware of were brought on by
something that made it far too obvious, such as going in groups, or
obviously marching right in to the nearest ladies room in a location
where the group had attracted the attention of onlookers.

Usually even one person talking will give you away, especially if they
shout, "Wow, I've never been in a ladies' restroom before!"

Definitely! The women's restroom is not the place to seek entertainment
or a relationship .... or do major makeup repairs or even minor ones
when others are present. In some cases when places or crowded, or if the
conditions just don't feel right, it's even better to seek another
place to wash-up or just use a wet-wipe after leaving!

Inside the stratosphere is relatively protected by the casino, but be
aware of your surrounding outside of the casino.

When I travelled by taxi from downtown to the strip by taxi, I would ask
the same question to the drivers that took me down main street as it
turned onto LV blvd right at the Strat... specifically about the area
around the strat. The combined information of all the drivers was:

The area around the Strat is a rough neighborhood, low income and a
source of drugs and drug related problems. Many episodes of 'Cops' in
LV have been filmed around the Strat... and gunfire/murder/domestic
violence at night from that area is common. Many taxis drivers choose
to not respond to requests from those areas. The police and city is
trying to improve the area around the Strat.

DO NOT walk around on LV blvd or Main Street at NIGHT, esp late night,
including the residental area behind the Strat. It would be very
dangerous for anyone.

Which is true for I rarely see anyone walking at night when I drive by
that area at night.

During the day its relatively safe, but stick to the main streets...
specifically LV blvd and Main Street. The area between the Sahara and
Strat is ok during the day, but be aware of what is around you. There
can be alot of homeless and drug addicts loitering around that area, and
around the bus stops. I've walked between the Strat and Sahara many
times, and had no issues. BUT at times I kept myself aware of the people
around me as I walked. During the day many tourist and local walk that
area.

The Parisian Wig shop a few years back had two bullet holes in the front
window that came from the direction of the Strat. That shop is between
the Strat and Sahara.
