For the most part yes.

We've had people stay there since the early days of DLV, we've done
groups to visit the tower, and we've had people eat there with
no negative reports.

I have a feeling that the Stratosphere will be one of our suggested
hotels next year, since one of our senior organizers stayed there last
year and liked it.

You will find that with rare exception, your money is just as green as
anybody else's, and as long as you dress and behave as a lady or a
gentleman, you will be treated as such.

Please re-read your comment below, I'd like you to make a factual
correction.

I believe you errantly subsituted the word "restroom" for "restaurant". I
don't recall going to the restroom in the building!

Hi

Actually apart from said SENIOR organiser staying there we also ate at
Stratosphere and in the cafi / coffee shop. As I recall we also went up and
had drinks in the revolving bar one night as well. We were all treated OK. I
do in particular going up in the lift to dinner where the receptionist, lift
person and the dining room staff were all very outgoing and friendly.

Actually, while I'm delving into these memories I seem to remember pinging
the metal detector with my waist cincher and eventually had to show the
security guy it. He seemed pretty embarrassed when he realised..hehehehehe

Hugs
Michelle

PS Passing thought maybe a group meal in the tower restaurant with tens of
DLVers would be a pretty cool activity. We could have a lot of fun revolving
around the top of the tower!

Anyway the thought has passed without stopping!

That sounds like something that might have happened in an early DLV,
when they were much more laid back...

Wow, Densie, my first time break dancing in the ladies' room!

>>So the Statosphere is Tfriendly?

My partner and I stayed at the Stratosphere last year. The price was
right and the service and treatment from the staff was more than
adequate. The facilities were a step up from the Sahara in size and
variety of nothing else. I didn't eat in the buffet, but did check it
out and the food looked good. It's smaller than the Sahara Buffet, but
should accommodate us. I'm thinking about suggesting it for one or more
days next year. Considering the entire property there's something for
everyone from fine dining to McDonald's where I did go every morning for
my partner's coffee. We went to the tower restaurant/lounge twice and it
was pricey, but worth it -- the 306 degree view of Las Vegas is a light
show to be seen. The food was really good and helped by our dining
companions' knowledge of good wine from the many available choices!

I spent a lot of time at one of the bars in the main casino with live
entertainment more for my generation; some nights were better than
others and one night it was so good I closed the place. I was well
accepted, meaning not one person gave me any grief or seemed to notice
I might be different, but I tend to tip well.

I didn't go to Polly Esther's Nightclub which I understood was a choice
venue for the younger crowd and has been discussed here some. I might
have gone, but couldn't get my partner to go and decided it was not
worth the long wait in line to get in. I did go down and observe the
young people going in and again no one appeared to noticed me -- the
kids going in were the show! Besides, it's probably not for my
generation, we experienced real Polyester when it was new and the club
is obviously loud!

The hotel was easy to get to from the Interstate and other routes to and
from typical DLV venues and there was lots of parking. I don't think I'd
recommend it for anyone without a car, but you could walk to the Sahara
for the mono-rail.

I'll probably go back again next year unless I'm forced to go more
up-scale. Like Annie wrote, my experience is that as long as you act
properly, dress appropriately, and tip well you will be accepted
everywhere. I keep waiting for disaster to fall, but so far it hasn't
including my flight to Chicago in June when the members and leaders of a
fundamentalist church denomination's missionary choir on tour decided to
sit in all of the seats around me on a Southwest flight from Nashville
to Chicago. They couldn't have been nicer and hardly seemed to notice me
except to help with my carry-on luggage at the end of the flight.

Did you ever use any of the bathrooms there? That's the key to T
friendliness

I was staying there and did not use the public facilities, but I have no
reason to think I would have had a problem -- haven't ever had one in
restaurants, hotels, airports, or even red-neck service stations in the
rural south.

That is not to say it won't happen someday, but I think we make our luck
with our presentation and behavior and I'm careful to get in, do what I
went for, and get out.
