Ladies and gentlemen,

A very unfortunate scheduling issue has come to our attention regarding
the currently scheduled dates for DLV 2006.

Unknown to us at the time we decided on the dates for DLV 2006, the
National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention is also scheduled
for the week of April 23-29, 2006 in Las Vegas.

NAB is currently one of the largest conventions in Las Vegas and is
expected to bring somewhere between 130,000 and 140,000 conventioners
to Las Vegas during that week.

The anticipated crowd has already caused hotel rates to rise sharply for
that week. Rates for the Sahara, for example, are more than double what
they are for adjacent weeks. A sampling of rates for other popular
hotels for DLV shows similar high rates for that week.

Along with higher hotel rates, it is anticipated that the lower cost
airfares that week will be in short supply, lines will be longer at
buffets, restaurants, and attractions, rental car rates will be higher,
and crowds will be greater throughout the Strip area.

Our DLVORG group has just voted to review and reconsider the dates
for DLV 2006 and your input is requested and appreciated.

If a rescheduling is to occur, it will most likely be a few weeks at
most before or after the currently scheduled dates. We are not
considering moving DLV on the calendar to a time other than the
spring, or temporarily moving it to a location other than Las Vegas.

No final decision has been made as of this time, but the consensus
indicates that a rescheduling of DLV 2006 may be in order.

According to our standing rules, any change in DLV dates requires a 2/3
majority of the organizers, so please be assured that any changes will
be carefully considered and will not be done unless there is a clear
agreement that they are necessary.

If you move it up earlier, you will conflicting with Easter. A similar
problem with hotel rates and air fares as well as availability at all.
Moving it a week into May would be a reasonable compromise from the
increasing hot weather and availability. --Michelle

My only comment concerning the DLV 2006 possible date changes would be
that being a native Las Vegan I think that the dates if changed should
be earlier than the current dates scheduled. For those who know Las
Vegas we very seldom have any real spring or fall seasons here, we seem
to go from winter to summer with little transition for spring or fall.
So for that reason holding DVL 2006 before the current April dates would
more likely avoid the hot summer weather we tend to get here in Las
Vegas.

Dear Committee,

In reference to the subject issue, I'd like to recommend the week prior
or after the NAB convention event be thought of for 2006 DLV event. It's
early enough (I would think) for a shift in scheduling and lining up
accommendation's.

By all means, move the dates. I trust the DLV staff to choose a new time

Ladies,

I'd like to make a comment here, if I may. The reality is that we may
someday run into a situation like we have before us now. That is, that
some of us may not be able to attend on these given dates, or any of
the dates the organizers decide upon. These dates may not be suitable
to many of us for whatever the reason. Whether it be the dates between
Palm Sunday and Easter, or before and after Mother's Day, before it
rains, or before it gets too hot to wear panty hose, etc. etc. etc. .

If that is the case, then I being the realistic lady that I am, will
just have throw myself on the floor, kick and scream, get up,
straighten out my dress, and say "ah that felt better, and just realize
that it was not possible to go this year. That is exactly what I did
(not a pretty sight, let me tell you. Thank goodness I was alone) two
years ago when a conflict in schedule prevented me from attending DLV
04.

Of course, it would be great if we could all attend and see each
other again. I mean we are a bunch of glamorous, classy and wonderful
ladies. The best group of gals to want to spend a vacation with. Here's
hoping we can all make it to DLV this year!

I think the best time is Gay week , like the 1st or 2nd wk of May..more
peoples in town to party , more things going on , and its warmer.

But I'm good to go for what ever date you come up with.
