I printed out a couple or three extra copies of the schedule and gave it
to some of the ones who had not registered on line!

I could probably have given out more if I had them to people who had
lost theirs!

I also gave out schedules to as many people that I could... still many
chose not to with the amt of a schedules I threw in the trash at the end
of dlv.

I even had a list of activities and signups which was used quite a bit
by both attendees and organizers.

LIke Tootsye ... it was alot of printout to print everyone's
schedules... for those that registered. Most told me that they already
knew what they signed up for and where to go...but I gave them their
schedules anyway....

We should probably move this thread over to ORG, but I am very much
opposed to posting our detailed schedule, which includes times and
locations, anywhere in public.

IMAO, those who do not register for DLV do not have a need to know this
much information about where we will be and what we will be doing.

You probably aren't aware of this, but there are many cases where people
try to get the (detailed, with locations) schedule without registering.

We do provide a means of contact, and a back-up in case one should fail,
like it did last year. Everybody who registered got the contact numbers.

We might want to do such things as adding additional phone volunteers,
but we also need to be assertive with regard to those who register being
responsible for knowing what to do and who to contact if they have any
concerns.

I'm not sure how keeping up with this year's schedule became a problem,
but what if we posted a paper copy of the final DLV schedule at safe
place or two, maybe Zingers and Flex, so anyone who does not have last
minute email access or just plain loses the schedule can check it upon
arrival in Las Vegas? Doing this would provide for last minute emergency
changes and notifications that might be needed someday.

The down side might be someone seeing the schedule and showing up at our
gathering place to cause trouble!

One reason that I've avoided handing out paperwork at DLV is due to what
happened at DLV 1999. This was long before activity sign-up or even any
kind of registration.

One of the local ladies printed out the final schedule for me and went
over to Kinko's and ran off a number of them. At Goodtimes that Friday
(which was our Welcome Celebration) I handed them out to everybody who
was with DLV. In fact I almost went back to Kinko's and printed more
since I was running short.

When the gang split up that night and I was about ready to leave, I
looked over the scene at Goodtimes and there were DLV schedules
EVERYWHERE littering the place. (I was embarrased to leave such a mess!)
Most of the ones I printed at Kinko's were lying on the tables or on the
floor.

We'll probably want to refine the process of handing out hard copies of
peoples' schedules. We can discuss this further on ORG.

That is because, as an ex-administrator, you are infinitely more
organised than some of the rest of us! :-)

The one thing I would say is that it should be possible to create a one
page schedule with most details on it that can be easily carried. As
someone you tries to reduce the weight of what I carry as much as
possible, paper lists, tombs, war and peace etc are not on the list of
inclusions within baggage and since most places I stay don't provide in
room printers I reply on looking at my computer each day.

Hugs
