Hotel advice please

Hello there

I have been to Vegas many times before and have also attended "Diva"
before (and I am really looking forward to doing it again this year) and
I am looking for some advice.

What I am not sure of is whether or not to stay at Flamingo. I know
about the resort fees in Vegas and also the cost of parking and combine
that with not sure if there is a fridge in the room... (a big factor
for me.) and that ends up making it hard to decide on. The total costs
make it a bit more expensive than one a few doors down that doesn't
charge resort fees or for parking but I would like to be in the main
hotel where likely most of the people are staying.

I will be travelling solo and was wondering if I will be at any
disadvantage (for want of a better term) for not staying at Flamingo?

I'm assuming that you're talking about the Casino Royale here, as it's the only one in the immediate area that does not charge those pesky resort fees.

We've had people stay at Casino Royale off and on over the years, not many, but some, and I have not heard any significant complaints. The hotel portion is a Best Western, and subject to their franchise standards, so it will be decent. I can say with some confidence, however, that the rooms will not be as nice as those at the Flamingo.

I will be travelling solo and was wondering if I will be at any disadvantage (for want of a better term) for not staying at Flamingo?

Last year, a little over half of our survey respondents did not stay at the Flamingo.

I personally have stayed at another Strip hotel for DLV over the past several years. Why? I get good rates there, I'm fairly well known there as I've stayed many times both for business and pleasure, and it's a quick Monorail ride away from the Flamingo and the center of the action.

Many other DLVers stay elsewhere because they have a gaming history there and get good rates, or, simply because they like the properties they choose.

If you're at Casino Royale, it's maybe a 5 minute walk to the Flamingo.

Everything from the Venetian to Planet Hollywood is arguably within "walking distance" (in sensible shoes, that is) to the Flamingo, so you should be close to the center of the action at anything in that range, or anything that has convenient Monorail service.

I was indeed referring to the Best Western.
Normally I stay further away at Royal Resort (I was locked out of my room there once and had to go to the front desk dressed and they didn't bat an eyelid as it is Vegas and I'm sure they've seen it all) but they seem to be having problems with their website and also availability,
Flamingo is referred to as LGBTQIA friendly and so are a few of the others in the area but that doesn't cover the actual guests of the hotel and the people you meet on the streets. I haven't stayed at Flamingo before and I just don't know how many of the events I will be participating in but I guess would like a chance to meet more people (I am in Australia).
There are plenty of cheaper ones away from the Strip (I will have a car) but I like being in the middle of the action

Hi Mellissa,

If you decide to go with the Flamingo, be sure to ask for the remodeled
rooms first and than ask for an upgrade - the upgraded rooms have
refrigerators (be sure to confirm).

Hi there. If I can offer my opinion here and since I am organizing the room block at the Flamingo, I would suggest that you stay at the Flamingo. If you really want to meet other people and find more socialization it's better to be at the recommended hotel, which is the flamingo we are planning daily happy hours at the garden bar and I think you will find it to be very convenient. Just my two cents. Without parking fees it would be $100 per night Sunday through Thursday and more on Friday night. Well worth the extra money. Cami

This is very much correct.

I can give you some numbers here.

As of this morning, we have a total of 81 registrations in. 14 of those have SOs included, for a total headcount so far of 95, which is significantly higher than last year's count of 70 during the third week of January.

Out of those 81 registrations and those who have specified a hotel, 36 of them are at the Flamingo, or a total of 43 individuals, or roughly 45% of our headcount.

Are the "Go" rooms in the Flamingo, the ones that have been remodelled?

If I am correct, most of the newly-remodeled rooms are now called "Flamingo" rooms and are in a third class above the "Go" rooms. I've stayed in both Fab and Go rooms over the years, but not recently. IIRC, Go rooms had a refrigerator but Fab rooms did not. It might be worth phoning the desk at Flamingo to check refrigerator status if that is important to you.

property, and with my players card I have never paid a parking fee
while staying there. Maybe it is the same at the Flamingo? Worth

I can verify that this is true, assuming that your players card is at the Platinum level or above.

And, seeking a very obvious work-around to the paid parking issue is to be left as an exercise for the student.

Thank you for your responses

I have emailed the hotel directly and they replied to say that none of
the rooms have fridges in them and yet members on here (and other sites)
have said that is not necessarily the case and the website of the
Flamingo itself lists the rooms that have fridges and all the other
inclusions

One final question or two, is the price that is listed for the hotel
through this site, the final price? (is it inclusive of resort fees but
parking fees are still extra?)
