That's the place that Dorothy currently uses for the DLV Logo Shop.

When this thread started, I looked on there and I didn't see any
pin-like items.

Hi Annie,

I checked the Cafe Press also, and agree with you, no pin-like items,
only buttons.

If I can find a company either: locally, by internet (has to be really
legit), by someone on dlvdisc that knows of a local business in their
area... that can produce a nice cloisonne pin at a 'reasonable' price
and small quantities (less than 500), I'll go ahead and org this.

In the meantime, I'll keep looking for a business that can.

To Annie and others, check out this web page, and give your opinion...
its another internet company that will make can make pins, but minimun
starting at 100 pins. Not sure how legit they are...

http://www.pinpromotions.com/Cloisonne.html

The cost per pin per size is listed....and reasonably priced.

For those interested and haven't stated their opinion in this disc,
please post a email either way ... yea or nay.

It gives an indication on the interest or not for this item. So far its
been 100% positive.

If the demand or interest can guarantee puchasing of over 100 pins,
there is a internet company that can do this, and all we need is to
coordinate the collection of money.

:-) Easy, 1 person who want 100 pins :-) or 5 people who want 25 each
:-) or 10 people who want 10 each :-) or 20 people that want 5 pins.
kinda easy if we have 20 or more that will guarantee buying at least 5.

The question is we can make a run of 100 or more pins. Its nice to have
them all pre-paid. Do we want to keep some for sale to new attendees for
future DLVs? If so how do we do that without too much hassles over cost
and money?

First, what would be the approximate cost for 100 pins? Then we need to
see if we can get 5 people to invest in 20 pins each with everyone
agreeing to sell the pins at the same price. It may take two DLVs
before all the pins are sold, but the "cause" might be worth the
investment.

Await some inputs. JoAnn

I really like the idea of an "event pin". If anyone's
been to a NASCAR event or NHRA event, there is usually
an annual event pin available for about $15, hats are
$25, and t-shirts are $20. Normally, the event pins
are sold out by the last day of the event. During the
2002 Winter Olympics, event pins were a very hot item,
costing $1 to $20, but trading from $1 to $500.

Personally, I think having an event pin that costs
under $10 apiece is very reasonable. Having one that
costs under $5 is absolutely wonderful. Having one
that costs under $3 is a steal.

BTW, NSD dove pins were $5 ... but that went toward
the drivers gas fund and roses. :)

This does seem reasonable. The domain (pinpromotions.com) has been live
for almost 5 years, so it's most likely somewhat established.

Somebody (like you) :) will of course have to put at least $275.00 at
risk, since DLV has no front money for such a project, nor does DLV have
any mechanism for collection of $$$$$. Somebody (like you) :) would also
have to do the actual selling, either in advance of DLV via snailmail or
in person at DLV.

Really, all it takes is for somebody (like you) to do it. :)

ok... I'll test the waters even more here...

If anyone can find a cheaper/better manufacturer please let me know...

Before I jump into this, I would like to reduce the potential cost/loss
to me if I can find enough people who are willing to foot a portion of
the costs, and get a portion of the pins..in other words 'invest'.

I need to know who is willing to help me put up some cash to pay for the
pins. I ONLY want people who are serious and will (not refuse to pay
later) 'invest' in this idea and can put up cash when asked for it. Some
trust is involved here, esp with the cash.

If we go with this company, and go for a 1 inch pin at $2.79ea, and to
round things out say $3.00 ea. 1 inch is a nice size, not too small, not
too big, and probably readable size. The true cost may be slightly
higher or lower.

So the total cost of 100 pins is $300.00

These investors can sell their pins at the same price (hopefully) to dlv
attendees. The more people who invest, the more dlv attendees can find
one of these people during dlv to buy the pin from.

NO guarantees on being able to sell the pins to anyone. But I'm sure if
the pin is attractive, there will be buyers.

Some guidelines:

IF 1 person, buying 100pins x 3 = $300.00
IF 5 people, buying 20pins x 3 = $60.00
IF 10 people, buying 10pins x 3 = $30.00
IF 20 people, buying 5 pins x 3 = $15.00

If I get 100 people buying 1 pin, its fine. If I get one person to buy
them all its fine. Or anything inbetween. The idea is to see if we can
come up with purchasing the minimum of 100 pins.

hmmm, I'll try to keep the list updated periodically based on those who
come forward, and list the summary in this disc group. If I leave
anyone out, please let me know via this forum.

I will stop this when the 100 pin minimum is reached, or continued
upward if the demand in this disc group wants to continue.

For those that will invest, please indicate if you want to go with this
company. If its agreed, then I will contact them and get actual cost
details, which MAY affect the individual pin cost. If it increases, the
investors can then re-evaluate their commitment.

Remember, the bottom line is those who 'invest' is required to pay. Its
also to see if we have enough to get 100 pins.

Any investors?

I'll begin, I will buy 10. at $30.00.

If we get 9 more people to buy 10 pins, the 100 quota will be reached.

<DLV organizer's hat on>

Just so everybody understands, if this happens, it will be a private
arrangement between the individuals involved, and the DLV organizers
(the group has a legal standing of "informal association" -- IANAL but
one who is uses that term) cannot be responsible if things don't work
out.

<DLV organizer's hat off>

Having said that, put me down for $30, subject of course to seeing the
final design -- I wanna be sure it's something I will be able to
unload without resorting to the tactics the timeshare droids do. :)

Hey Yvonne,

Not to be outdone by Ms. Annie, I will cough up $31.
:)

Actually, if that adds up to about 10 or 11 pins, they
will go toward the CR ladies for NSDII.

Given our attendance, etc. etc. -- $15.00 should be a reasonable
price. The key to the success of the 'pin' is the design. We need some
of our 'group's talent' to step forward to make this happen. JoAnn
