Over 50 lounge

Hello,

I attended last year and intend to do so again this year. Based on last
years experience I was wondering if there is any interest in creating a
place for the over 50 people who do not want to go dancing could go.

Many of us are having hearing issues and are not interested in dancing
so it seems like it would be nice to have a place to go and hang out. I
was thinking based on what I have seen of the schedule that Wednesday
night around 9:00pm until 11:00pm would be a possibility.

I have very little exposure to Las Vegas so I can't offer any
suggestions on where would be a good location. Possibly a lounge without
entertainment but with bar service would work located off a casino floor
so the gamblers could come and go.

Thanks,

Micki Finn

What I might suggest is Gustav's Bar, which is due north of Le Cabaret on the casino floor. Our people have been going there off and on for decades.

It's also the place where one of our people won TWO $4000 royal flushes in a timespan of a couple of hours.

If you feel like joining (or just checking out) the gang at the Cabaret Lounge, it's maybe a one-minute walk between the two places.

I'm gonna bounce this one over to the ORG group, to see if we want to add an additional line item to the schedule for it.

Micki and the rest of the group, if what you are saying is that the
dance music is too loud and causes hearing damage, I heartily agree with
you as to some venues, but disagree regarding others. In the past I even
arranged one "ballroom" dance venue which made the activities list and I
do not recall any participant comments of music too loud during that
event. I could pull together another one if desired

Though now a non-Nevada resident for over a decade now, I was resident
for approximately seven years, most of that time I was part of the UNLV
campus community. That area is also close to the convention center which
I frequented 1-2 times a year for annual trade shows basically from
1980-present (this year I missed CES due to hospitalization so I had to
make due with CNET's coverage). I know that part of town best, but my
information is getting dated. I hope to attend this year, if finances
permit.

My hearing issue isn't worrying about going deaf, I'm already half way
there. Since I've never been much of a dancer and am still recovering
from a broken heel, all I end up doing at the dance event is watch the
dancers, have short loud partial conversations, drink or wander off to
gamble. An alternative would be nice.

I was just at the Flamingo for 5 nights and I checked on the Gustavs bar
and nobody there seemed to know what I was talking about?

Gustav's Bar is not at the Flamingo. It's at the Paris.

I'm suggesting it as a quieter alternative to the Cabaret Lounge, also at Paris, which has been the DLV late-evening venue for a number of years now. The two are north-south of each other at Paris, across a portion of the main casino floor.

Annie,
Maybe you could do it in Napoleons's Lounge and call it "Mild Side" for the 50 plus folks.
