Ok, someone has to say it.

I have talked to a lot of girls who attend one or the other and a few
who attend both. Part of what attracts a lot of the younger girls to
Wildside is in the name itself. A chance to be wild and get a little
crazy. The same thing that drew a few of the girls to Studios. A chance
to be naughty, to live a fantasy out and to be just a little wild. That
is what draws the younger girls to Wildside and not to DVL. We do things
they are not interested in at DLV and don't do things they do at
Wildside.

Naughty fun is what the difference is. And in most cases it is Sex. I
love all the girls I met at DLV and really don't want them to change
just so some younger girls will come to our event. But don't expect them
to come to go see Wayne Newton. Someone will come along and start an
outing that some of you will not approve of. (Eyelashes Batting) Don't
go to it if you don't like it. Things will change on their own, don't
try to force change. Let it happen. Continue to do things as they have
been. We don't have to be the most attended outing for it to be great.
We do need strong smart leaders like the ones we have that can organize
things, and yet be smart enough to allow change to happen when it does
come along. You showed you could do that this year.

I applaud Katie especially, because she did not approve of the outing I
arranged but let it happen and still did not treat me in a negative way
even though she did not approve.

Again, don't go out of your way to try and change stuff that don't need
changing.

Huggers,Steph

I don't know that there is a right answer, it has more to do with your
thoughts on DLV continuing long term. Quite a few years ago, there used
to be the Texas Tea Party (no relationship to the political movement).
It went through a similar aging process, and eventually the primary
organizers became old, and in one case ill, and didn't want to continue
to do all the work associated with running the event. A call went out
for volunteers to take over, but as it had been mostly a static group
attending, most of whom were of similar age, there were few,=C2=A0 and
it was discontinued.

For a few years, some of us reconstituted at Gold Rush, but most fell
away because the vibe at GR was much different. That's not a criticism
of GR, it's a nice event (or was, I haven't gone in quite some time) but
it was more of a standard convention event.

If Diva stays pretty much the same as is, it's reasonable to expect it
will follow a similar path - that's not bad, particularly as it seems
the vast majority of the attendees prefer it to stay mostly the same -
however, it will probably make it more challenging to continue down the
road, as you may not have the volunteer base to run it as well as it is
today.

Hi all who are following this.
Steph. I did not have a problem in the least about the nature of your activity. My problem was it was shoved in at extremely short notice and running alongside other actricvities and my concern was that someone who had carefully planned an event might lose attendance because of it..Which They Did! ( This did happen at least once by the way!) Lisa from Oz came to me at our coffee gathering the day of your event and asked me how she could get out of a dinner event that night so she could attend your fet event. Annie will attest to this because she was standing right next to me when Lisa asked, I pointed in Annies direction and said, "You are in luck, This is the exact person who can help you get out of it".
I knew this would happen and was not particularly glad that it did because I knew that someone who might be expecting 10 was now down to 9. or from 5 to 4 etc'. I am not into numbers so I have no idea how many others did this, Some might have just impolitely not shown up at all without being as tactful and forthright as Lisa was.

I think we should get your event on the schedule for next year, It was obviously popular.

As far as I remember You did no wrong Steph! You politely asked if it was ok to insert an unscheduled event at short notice which was going to be overrunning other ones, The problem lies with the answer which was Yes. I can't change that obviously, My vote was No but I am just a small tooth on the gear which tries to drive DLV along smoothly. ( Good analogy huh? ) *Wink*.
Anyhow I am glad we had a chance to meet during this years gathering.

As for Wayne Newt' . I thought it might be a tad outside of my preferred vacation desires too but it turned out to be quite a fun morning out with some really nice peole.>>> And the piccies we got were rather nice too I think.

We were short of quality daytime events and Bev came up with 2 for the same day, One being the Wayne Newton tour. Accolades to her, she works hard to make it a success and deserves credit for that.

This being a discussion forum I think it might be pertinent to mention that if someone ran an unscheduled event alongside Katies Koffe Korner which had been approved by management and which might or might not take away half of the attendees to KKK that I would seriously consider requesting that KKK be removed from the shedule. Yes. Seriously!
Food for thought?
Thank the T gods that most people are still in bed when the coffee gathering is in full swing and not many get up that early at DLV.

KT.

We all need, even I, to remember to call or text message the hostess of
an event you signed up for that you're not going to be able to make it
after all.

Hi Steph, Are you the same Steph that was featured on the Dr. Phil
television show. Saw it today and I could swear the Steph on the show
looked real familiar. I even asked Dennis "doesn't that look like one of
our DLV girls?"

One suggestion that might increase attendance a bit, without altering
the program, is to have a half page marketing summary for folks to see
up front, online. We have this in part today - the website is a
comprehensive thing of beauty, but a casual shopper of events may not
read it. In a world were complex issues and decisions are reduced tweets
(by both sides of the aisle) , perhaps we need to offer a short version
as well. Something like:

It's Transgender Its's fun We offer dining, golf, museum tours (whatever
is being offered that year)...It's fee free, just pay your own actual
expenses.Sign up link.............

We can still have everything behind it on the website that exists today,
but if peace in the Mideast is covered in 140 characters, (rightly or
wrongly) , perhaps we would gain readership and some attendance if we
did some of the same type of formatting.

Hi there from downunder, Poor Lisa, now publicly exposed to all of the US
as a XXXXX!...yep,that was me..guilty as charged!

Firstly, apologies if my late change of plans offended anyone.

Secondly, loved everything about DLV and sincere thank you to all
involved in making it the event it was.

Lastly, the key to any event of this scale is to broaden the
"experiences" to appeal across the widest possible target..were all
very, very different people despite the fact with have one common little
behaviour.

I had lots of fun dinnersplanned which I attended that week, but just
wanted to do something different that nite when the opportunity arose.
Hope that explains my actions(even if it doesn't restore my reputation)!

PS ..and Katie AND Steph are both gems!

No Vera, but I have a lot of family members that probably think I should
be on the Dr. Phil or the Maury show, lol.

Hi to all who are following this.

Katie to be clear on this,I did not ask if I could plan it on short
notice or even ask if I could do it at all. If I spent my life seeking
approval for things I do, I would not be living the life I do today.

I thought it would be fun and also that some others would as well.

So I just did it and figured if it was not allowed my post would be
deleted.

As far as overlapping with other things, as I recall there were other
activities that overlapped. The activity at Studios was for anytime
after 9pm and I really thought any dinners or other things would be over
by that time.

As far as the Wayne Newton event went, I did state that although it was
not my thing I really was glad someone arranged it for those who do
enjoy him.

The only reason I bought him up was to answer why our event is not
drawing younger girls as was asked. If DVL is going to continue in the
future some new things that people want to do are going to be needed. I
don't really care if it is an approved DVL event.

If I want to do something I will do it and ask others if they as well
want to do it as well. I also hope things that have interested small
groups in the past will continue. Just don't make it sound like my
activity caused someone to change their mind.

I went to get a Peanut Buster Parfait at Dairy Queen the other night and
when I was on my way I decided an ice cream cone would be better. =C2=A0
People change their minds, but should notify planners of activities if
they change their mind. If someone didn't notify someone of a change of
plan, thats on them and I did not cause it with the planning of my
outing.

Thanks for all the hard work all of you do to make this possible. And
thanks for your willingness to bend and change to keep it alive for
others in the future.

Huggers, Steph
