I mentioned to some of my DLV friends that I would have my Colonoscopy performed when I returned home after DLV. I had mine done today with little trouble and effort.
In addition I had a CT Scan of my intestinal tract. If you haven't had this done, it’s easy, just fast for the morning of the test, no Meds and the electronic scan has no contact with your body.
The results showed that I have a problem on my Appendix and my Dr. recommended surgery to remove it.
I plan to have this performed later this month.
Because I care about my DLV friends, I’m posting my suggestion that you schedule this, potentially life-saving test this year for yourself.
I will post up the outcome after my surgery.

Been there, done that, quite recently actually. The procedure itself is quite painless except for an IV stick, and if you're chicken about that, ask for EMLA prior to the stick.

Worst part of the whole ordeal, actually, is choking down the seemingly endless gallons of Super Colon Blow(tm) the night before!

Been there Done it 3 times.
Forget the prep and the IV. Best part lady's is when you start to wake up with a pleasant high and with a heavy warm toasty blanket over you, hell they have to kick me out of the recovery room....LOL Oh ya forgot the juice box they give you.

Thanks for your replies. This was my first time and I was very brave.
I asked the Dr. if I could watch the monitor as they performed my procedure. She said OK but it meant not getting the VI anesthesia. I signed another form refusing the IV.
I was awake the whole time watching the live images. It was fascinating to see how this was done. I was only uncomfortable a few times but overall it was well tolerated.
Now you know how crazy I am.

Good for you Kandi!

Almost two years ago my spouse passed away from colorectal cancer. She
delayed getting her colonoscopy until well after 50 and after she had
symptoms. The next 6 years were full of 4 surgeries, 102 chemo
sessions, 3 other hospitalizations and a long sad goodbye.

Getting this simple procedure when you turn 50 is worth so much in peace
of mind for you and your family and if there are any signs, it is the
chance to address colon cancer early. Don't allow the imagined
embarrassment, manageable cost and slight discomfort have any value in
the decision about scheduling this life-saving procedure. Years ago I
was awake during a similar exam and while it was interesting, I much
prefer sleeping through it, thank you very much.

So, here's what happened so far...
Yesterday, I had an Appendectomy. It was done as an outpatient procedure since my Appendix was not abscessed ( infected). The procedure was routine and I was sent home the same day. I have some abdominal discomfort which is controlled by Meds.
My Surgeon said it was probably a pre-cancerous lesion. Appendix Cancer can be either slow or aggressive in growth. It can spread directly to the Colon. Mine was caught very early and easy to treat at this stage. He expects this was 'nipped in the bud'. I want my gurlfriends to know this likely saved my life by taking care of it very early. I hope this motivates you to get yourself checked out.
I had a good attitude going into this and couldn't resist playing around. With a large institution they ask you a dozen times, 'what are you having done, today?' A BOOB Job!, I answered. The (gg) Nurses all laughed. One said she can give me "Double-Ds".
