Where are you staying?

Postby Bev » Sat Feb 07, 2015 10:53 am

By now most of us have made our lodging arrangements for DLV2015. I am curious as to where you have decided to stay during the week. I know we filled our room allotment at Flamingo so there will be a nice group there.
So let's hear where you decided to stay. How many are staying downtown? Other strip hotel? Off the beaten path?

I am not an official part of the DLV contingent who booked rooms under Bev's Bookings but I will also be staying at The Flamingo.
How many including me do we have staying there including me Bev?

I'm at the Flamingo, although I did not book under the group plan. I used the agency I often use for both business and pleasure travel.

I've stayed at the Flamingo many times over the years, both for business and pleasure, including DLV 2009, 2010, and 2013. I've never had any significant issues of any type. Worst I can remember is a key that stopped working once and an air conditioner that rattled. Both were corrected promptly.

The things I like specifically about the property include the general atmosphere, good dining selections, room elevators that are prompt (my number one gripe with the old Imperial Palace) fairly quick drink service on the casino floor, and the location - easy walk to many other places I like. The courtyard is a very relaxing place to stroll through.

On the negative side, the parking garage is a total cluster-{expletive}! One of the worst on the Strip. (I probably will not be renting a car this year, so it's a moot point.) In recent years they've also removed many of the machines that I like, although a modest selection of them still appear in the adjoining Margaritaville Casino.

I booked a room for M-F at the Four Queens a couple of weeks ago, I liked the name. I just booked Friday – Sunday at Blair House Suites after reviewing the summary schedule, it’s closer to the Flamingo Jean

We've had people stay at Blair House off an on going way back to the very early days of DLV. The one room I saw was actually very nice.

The thing I remember most is that it's kinda tricky to get to. I remember driving from the old Stardust to the Blair House by cutting through a church parking lot and an alley. :)

I'm staying at Palms Place, which is a luxury condo suite tower attached
to Palms Casino. $55 a night for a suite, daily breakfast, and passes to
Ghostbar.

Trivago has many 3 1/2 and 4-star hotels for around $60/night. I found a great deal right on the strip for $54 at a hotel noted as being very LGBT friendly.

Hi everyone,

My time will be split between two hotels. I had an offer for the Freemont Hotel which I took advantage of for Monday and Tuesday night. And because I was able to use some of the My Vegas points I have acquired and get two free nights, I will be at the Mirage on Wednesday and Thursday night. I just got back from Vegas last weekend but could not resist coming back for a few days of this event. See you there!

<Trivago has many 3 1/2 and 4-star hotels for around $60/night.>

Be careful booking with Trivago!
They Do Not disclose the resort fees for the hotel even after the booking process is done.
You need to visit the hotel website or call them to find out. In some cases those pesky resort fees are $25/ night.
The deal does not look so great then.
fyi,
