I was over 50 when I got my ears pierced. Nobody has ever made a
comment, and I am so pleased!

I've read this ear piercing discussion thread and want to mention I got my ears pierced this week.
I went to my Dermatologist to have both of mine done.
Yes, if I bought the earrings at certain shoppes, they pierce for free.
I went to my Dermatologist (paid $50) to get this done right, not by some kid in the Mall.
Self-piercing is tricky, so I didn't want to try that.

The Gals at the Dermatologist office and Dr. Heidi were all thrilled to help and encourage me.
She was extra careful and related that she had her ears done at age 8 but they were misaligned.
The actual piercing was like someone had tapped my lobe with their finger, not bad.
My ear lobes were slightly sore the next day but not an issue.

They all use the same piercing kit with surgical steel earrings/ backs, piercing tool and cleansing solution.
The earrings are 3 mm silver circular studs with no design on them.
These earrings need to be left in for 6 weeks and cleaned, twice daily with antibacterial topical cleanser.
Using Q-tip swabs or cotton balls didn't seem to work well for me. I tilt the bottle of cleanser and aim it at the earring stud. Then, I rotate the earring by twisting the backs, wiping off the excess cleanser with a tissue.
When these come off, I want to wear big hoops when I go to Vegas.
If I take good care of my new pierced ears, I can wear these new hoops.

I went shopping for earrings to wear in guy mode.
I found stainless studs with a simple silver 4 mm ball.
I also got a small double ring with a simple twist in silver.
The cost (on sale) for both pairs by Ann Taylor was $5.

I also went to Michaels crafts store for earring tools and supplies.
I got jewelry tools (misc. pliers & tweezers) with a storage case for $10.
I found a pair of charms with my initial and made some D initial earrings with purple glass beads along with the big hoops. All these were 30% off last weekend.

For those DLV'rs who have met me already, you will know that this is pushing my comfort zone.
However, more guys wear them to College.
I want to be cool now that I started teaching this semester in the College environment.
I did this last week, before school starts and soon enough to wear hoops in Vegas for Halloween.

I hope you are planning to meet up there for the last week in October.
You are all invited, just let me know so I can pass along the info.
Best wishes,

PS - Notice how clever I was not to reveal my age!

I'm just finishing my 4th. week after getting my ears pierced.
I must say everyone has reacted favorably to them. Just lucky, I guess.
One comment was, you look younger now.
I'll take that to the bank.

One GG student of mine commented that she liked guys who get both ears pierced.
It avoids that old, the left ear means this and the right ear means that.
She said that's obsolete, nowadays.

I've been consistent with cleaning my piercings with the disinfectant solution.
My earlobes are getting dry. I asked my nurse about this and she said to apply hydrocortisone cream.

I still can't wait until I can remove these original studs. Just to be clear, these studs need to be left in 24/7 over the 6 week period. Somehow, I was planning on selecting when to remove them for certain times.
It worked out better for me to wear them everyday until I got comfortable with them.

I posted this on kandi's facebook page:
One week ago, today, I had my ears pierced. First time for any piercing, actually. They will heal in time for me to wear hoop earrings for Halloween in Vegas this Oct. 31. I can't explain why but having them pierced, made me very horny! Maybe my ears are an erogenous zone?
Carmel: That's how I feel every time I got a neck tattoo. GrOwL
Stephanie:Hello!! Like sucking the earlobes.,.. Meow!!!
Kandi: Thank You, Girlfriends! I'm All ears 4U

I have my big hOOp earrings ready to wear in Vegas for Halloween.
If you are thinking about joining us then( please do!), please send me a note.
best wishses,
