Bobbie, I'm going to be honest in saying that I didn't like the
implication that I am old and/or inflexible simply for expressing my
opinion. For what it's worth, I'm neither but I'll be sure to use some
extra night moisturizer this evening, just to make sure ;)
My POV comes from the standpoint of someone who has experienced DLV as a
Monday-Saturday event as well as Monday-Friday. The welcome & ending
celebrations are anchor events and I'm sure most would prefer to attend
both. I'm sure that is my preference. My third DLV finally was able to
include the welcome celebration and this was because the schedule was
compressed to Monday through Friday. This made it possible on several
variables for me to be able to attend for that many nights.
Monday=Welcome, Saturday=Ending, probably not going to happen.
Like I said, I would fully endorse a rather full schedule to include
Sunday before the "welcome" and the Saturday after the "ending" if there
are volunteers to make it happen. I'm sure there are. My point has
simply been that the "bookends" of these two activities in a five day
span is conducive to many of us who cannot devote more time to DLV for
whatever reason. Although I'm expressing my personal preference, I
believe DLV discovered something in going with this format, that
attendance at one or both ends of the schedule was in fact maximized by
going with the M-F anchors. Annie can correct me if I'm wrong.
