Request for comments - DLV large group photos ...

We (DLV organizers and volunteers) would like some feedback from
YOU regarding this. A few very specific questions ...

1. How important to you, personally, are the large-group "official"
group photos of the DLV attendees? General degree of importance,
anywhere from "I don't really care" to "life or death importance"
or anything inbetween.

2. Which is more important to you regarding these group photos?
Having the maximum number of attendees included, or an attractive
setting?

3. If the "official group photo" were taken at a time and place
other than at one of our major gatherings, would you take the
time and effort to participate? (This assumes that the time
would be reasonable and the location would be reasonably
convenient to all.)

Comments on these will be appreciated.

(Silence will be interpreted as "don't really care.") :) :)

1. The group photo is pretty important to me, simply because I've never
been in one in my three years of DLV attendance. The fact that it didn't
happen at DLV 2011 wasn't a make-or-break when it came to my DLV
experience though. Still, it'd be nice to have one at some point.

2. I think the focus of the picture should be the people in a place
conducive to taking a large group photo.

3. Honestly, whether I would be inclined to take part in a special time
& place group photo would depend on what I had planned at that time,
whether for DLV or something off-track.

side note - If the group photo were to be moved to the final event,
using Bahama Breeze simply as an example, our photographer Diana could
do the honors if we wished to gather everyone at that time. It seems
it'd be easier to do so in that room than at Artisan. Diana is willing
to do the portraits again if we invite her.

Not a make or break for me, but a nice memory. Schedules as they are,
if it is anything but the first or last dinner, participation will
probably be down. For me, the more the merrier as it is the people I
want to have memory of, not a fountain in the background. So I say,
more people and I don't care about the background.

Keep in mind that what I suggested as far a the "official group photo"
was not suggested as a personal request. I suggested it because I
thought it would make a nice souvenir or a captured memory. I also feel
that what is important is just being there participating and sharing
time with my DLV sisters. Gee, there are plenty of opportunities to take
gobs and gobs of photos during the week that should satisfy any gurl's
need for captured memories. So, with that off my hairy chest I will add
to the on-going opinion pool and address items in this manner -

#1. If the "official group photo" doesn't not happen I will not go out
and commit hara-kiri.

#2. I could flip coins or draw straws, or play rock,
paper, scissors to determine this one.

#3 - Most definitely.

The large group photo has always been a wonderful memory for me from
past DLVs. It isn't the sole reason to attend, nor is the lack of that
event enough to make me feel as if my time spent in Las Vegas was a
bust. It creates a unique moment for me to marvel at the wonderful
depth and diversity of our group. It's also a lot of fun to participate
in the herding of the cats, gathering of the tribe and celebration of
our spirit, all while providing a great memory for the civilians who
happen to be in the area at the same time.

I'm all for having the largest group possible, so long as we don't have
to stand waist deep in mud or become dehydrated in the desert sun
waiting for the wind to calm down. While there is no lack of attractive
backdrops in Las Vegas, it can be difficult to find one with a good
camera station for a large group and then gather the clan for a few
minutes of exclusive use. If it is planned to be at at time other than
the opening or closing, we should spend some time in the run-up to DLV
2012 scouting for a location that would work with our DLV 'flash mob'.

If the photo were at some other time/date on the schedule I would do my
best to not schedule anything to conflict with that event. That
wouldn't be a guarantee, but I would make a sincere effort. I'd even
set my alarm to get up an hour earlier from my nap to get ready. (Did I
really say that?)

It's not the end of the world if I don't receive a group photo
although it would be nice and the more the merrier. I would be more
than happy to go to a specific site to have it taken as it seems very
difficult to herd cats during one of our major events.

Hello Everyone,

Yes to answer your #1 question about how important Group Photos are. I
would say they are important to those who are interested and those
documenting history and reflection much like any Reunion would. Others
don't like being in these photos for Personal or Professional Reasons,
But like to View those who were there, remembering interesting people
they met.

#2 question...if there is a Good sized group for this Photo shoot, Yes
the Background, eviorment and Space has to be important, plus what
everyone is wearing, using photo makeup facepowder so there is no shiney
oily faces. The background is almost as important as the subjects...just
look at other magazine ads..lol.

#3 I think I answered already, but to add that ccordinating ANY group of
people is hard to do. People call just getting ready N TrannyTime"
meaning a one hour "Getting Dressed" takes 4 hours...been there and done
that girls. Hope my comments we're helpfull. I have been to many
Socials, Trans Faires and orginze Outings and Parties plus Fundraisers.
I donate my retirement time to the Trans Communities and am very active.
I am a TransWoman and even have a New BirthCertificate as Female as I
live 24/7.You can find me on FaceBook also.

1. we should have a opening and ending group picture, because some are
not there at the opening, and some are not there for the closing, that
is why we whould have two.

2. having the maximum number of attendees

3. yes I would take the time to particpate
