Evening,

Do we need to pre-pay for the (confirmed slot vs. wait listed) Pole Dancing Class ? I
will not be at DLV until either Wednesday late afternoon or Thursday Morning...

Thanks,

I am not requiring prepay, just bring money with you to the lesson. However if you are having doubts about being able to make please let me know or update the registration page so we can make sure no one is left out. Our $35 rate is also based on us having at least 15 girls in our group. I will also print out some of Bev's vegas4locals coupons in case we have too many no-shows.

Will u be posting recommendations on how we should dress, Val? Leotards, I suspect. But, what about tites, slippers, and gloves?
Maybe we would do better to keep our legs, feet, hands, and arms uncovered to better stick to the pole? Any experienced pole dancers here that can post suggestions?

In regards to clothing:

1. Be comfortable. You are going to be working out so typical female athletic clothing is a good start. Sports bra / tank tops, etc.

2. Feel sexy. Tap into your inner burlesque, whether it is a cute skirt or top. Keep in mind that anything dangling will flap around as you spin - you don't want to have too much loose jewelry.

3. Skin is good. Besides feeling sexy, you will want exposed legs and arms to get a good grip on the pole. So wear shorts or a mini-skirt.

4. It is OK to wear heels but not necessary. Some studios will actively encourage stilettos but remember SEXY + COMFORTABLE.

If you want to buy clothing in Vegas, Studio Lites (4000 W Sahara) has a good selection of exotic dancing clothing, shoes, and accessories.

according to their website you don't need to have exposed skin on the legs to grip the pole until lesson 3. I'm sure we'll just be learning a few basic moves.

It is not a bad idea to look at the pictures on the website (http://www.poledancinglasvegas.net/index.html) to see what people are wearing. While I don't think most of us could pull off the skimpier outfits, we have other advantages: relatively long legs and more upper body strength. Dress for your body type and show off your assets. This is a private party so you can be more daring.

A few more shoe suggestions. Ideally these should be comfortable snug heels with a back so they don't fall off. One website suggests avoiding heels with pointed toes but I never find those comfortable anyway. Hopefully these are older shoes that you have worn before and know won't kill you.

As for the moves, the instructor will try to adapt the lessons to our comfort level. For the first class expect to work on how you strut around the pole, some floor work (think sexy yoga), and some simpler spins. For more advanced moves you need skin to stick to the pole, but it is ok to wear pants for a beginner class (think yoga or workout pants) . I would mostly recommend pants for people with sensitive knees as you may be kneeling down and the pants may help cushion against the wooden floor. Finally bring a towel and some water to drink.

I will be arriving at DLV on Sunday. If anyone has last minute questions or wants to do last-minute shopping my cell phone should be on the coordinator list. If you have any specific physical, logistical, or fashion concerns, contact me so I can make sure everyone has fun.

Thanks to all the girl who came out for a spin. You all looked great, learnt some new moves, and got a good workout. I am still a little jealous of Sherry's natural climbing ability.

For an idea of what is possible, I found this fantastic online collection of moves (http://poledancedictionary.com/moves/). I think if you could do even half of these then you might as well run off and join the circus (maybe Absinthe is hiring).

That was SOOO much fun. The instructor was a hoot-and-a-half. I need to talk my wife into going sometime. What a great idea that was. Thanks for organizing it.

The pole dancing was one of the most fun activities I have done in Las Vegas or DLV. Thanks Valorie for hosting this. I look forward to doing it again. I was worried about not getting any exercise in Vegas, but I sure got it on the pole. I tried to swim but the pool was too cold and windy.

I also appreciate the others who were there. It was a great group of girls and we all had so much fun. Thanks again. Jill
