Laura sends in the following.
For those who have not attended, in recent years we've always tried
to take in a play or something like that on one of the Pinkfest
evenings ...
This pre-broadway run of Kinky Boots sounds like it might be fun for
Pinkfest. It will be playing in Chicago in October. It will be at the
Bank One Theater.

'Kinky Boots' the Musical to Get Pre-Broadway Run in Chicago
By PATRICK HEALY
A new musical adaptation of "Kinky Boots", the 2005 British film about a
drag queen named Lola who helps save a family shoe factory, will have a
pre-Broadway tryout run in Chicago this October, the producers Daryl
Roth and Hal Luftig announced on Wednesday. No dates were given for a
Broadway production, but Ms. Roth has said she is aiming for the 2012-13
season.
Kinky Boots would be the Broadway debut of the pop musician Cyndi Lauper
as a composer and lyricist; the show's book is by Harvey Fierstein (La
Cage aux Folles, Newsies) and the director and choreographer is Jerry
Mitchell (Legally Blonde). In recent readings the actor Billy Porter
(the Off Broadway revival of Angels in America) has played Lola, while
the Tony Award nominee Stark Sands (Journey's End, American Idiot) has
played the shoe business scion Charlie Price. No casting has been
confirmed for Chicago or Broadway, but the creative team was said to be
happy with the work of the two actors.
