Chicago, my place of birth.

Postby bobbiemlv » Wed Oct 26, 2011 5:41 pm

I so long to be in Chicago. I was born and lived there until I was 12yo, 1958. The last time I was there was in 1969.
I fondly remember some of my childhood, visiting Grant Park, the Museum of Science and Industry where I could board the U-505, the skyline where the first skyscrapers in America were built, 4414 W. 16th St., Lake Shore Drive, catch the el at 69th and Halsted. CVS(Chicago Vocational School), where Dick Butkus played hjgh school football. I remember it all so well and reading about Pinkfest brings the memories back to life.

I thank you very much. Perhaps one year I will be able to be there with you, but for now you can catch me at DLV in Las Vegas.

4414 W. 16th St. The first address I lived at.
Then there was 8831 S.Clyde.
7901 S. Yates
Don't remember the number on East Prairie Rd. in Skokie.

I remember a smorgasbord called the Kungsholm and I believe they had a puppet show. It was on the North side. Does it still exist?

If it's the place I'm thinking of, the building now houses the Lawry's mentioned by Crystal. Ontario, just east of Rush, north side of the street.

No. It is now Lowry's and the puppet show is in the museum. But it is
still fondly remembered by many.
